NEW ways to lighten everything

It probably was you! And yeah 1:20 makes sense. I felt like a ninja out there with lightweight boots on. Only time I didn't wear them was early season when rubber knee boots are still necessary here. Sorry about the fall. Hope it wasn't too serious.

nah....just some bruises, thanks though

i'm with you on the pack also, i want the lightest pack that is big enough to carry my stuff and has a decent waist and shoulder system

No way to get around this for long sits. Weldabeast's is probably cold, mine is normally hot in a thermos. Solve this one, and I can take a lbs + out of my bag. I ran about 10 all day sits this year. I forgot my thermos in the truck on one of them, and it was torture to fight to continue to stay.
If you're gonna be stand hunting, tough to avoid this. But if you know you'll be covering ground and you know where the water sources are, a Sawyer mini lifestraw water filter has saved me weight.

Like the trail runner with gators. You ever have problems with ticks crawling up under the gators in early season?

Speaking of ticks,I picked up 22 ticks while scouting my best buck area last summer. I ended up finally spraying all my gear with permethrin because of that. A haunted that general square mile 25 times and never picked up a tick.

You can buy the 10% permethrin and dilute it yourself for mucho savings. No reason for all your clothes not to be treated all the time. Tick born diseases are no joke. I have been using this method for years and never have ticks on me. Good luck

Here in Michigan you’re not allowed to debone a deer in the woods, you have to haul the whole thing out. It would be nice to be able to debone it in the field, pack out the meat, and go stick it in the fridge. I am envious of the states that allow that. Yes
I'd check on that, the rule book no longer has any stance on not being able to pack out. I packed one out this year, and while still some work, it was way easier than dragging. You just have to keep the tagged head with the meat during transport.

There's a few threads over on Michigan-Sportsman as well about this. Unless I get one close to where I parked, I plan on packing out from now on

I have had lyme disease three times. This last tick infection was the worst, it took quite a while for it to heal and disappear from the medication. I never saw a tick in Michigan until I was in my late 40s, now they are freaking everywhere. It’s crazy!

I had no idea that changed. Thanks a lot. That could definitely change How I do things in the woods from now on.

thanks for this reminder...i did not treat this year, despite having stockpile of permethrin

it is now 2 years old (does it expire?)

by pure luck, i didn't get a single tick this year and didn't do my after hunt scrub down with dawn dish soap and check myself for ticks ritual either...i'm lucky i didn't catch something life changing

i need to be more disciplined with better self care when in the woods this upcoming year

Lucky! Depending on where I hunt I'll have 2 ticks on me when I get to a tree and 2 more on the walk out. Hate those things

it really varies even at the small acre level

i had this wetland area surrounded by woods and in a clearing with grass and sunlight pouring in and i would walk through this to get to a spot and i had to walk there and couldn't avoid it.....that 3 minute walk was worth around 1 to 5 ticks every time...short distance in another direction and nothing
