New Weekend hunting vehicle - all Trucks way too Much $$$$

This was my hunting rig ended up selling it. Got tired of the Jeep quirks and poor gas mileage. It’s was sure fun while I had it. Owned it 10 years. That was the 6th wrap I had on it.

Subaru Crosstrek with a trailer hitch for a cargo rack that I use to haul my e-bike and deer. Plus it gets great gas mileage and is all wheel drive .

My mom loves her crosstrek. They live on a rustic hilly road with a steep driveway. Snow and drifts don’t even phase that thing.

My daily driver and road trip hunting vehicle is a 2017 Nissan Titan XD with a Cummins and I have a 97 Nissan hardbody for local stump jumping and knocking around Both are 4x4 Love my Titan

Dude, get a Honda Accord or Civic, or some other little gas sipper.

I loved hunting out of mine last year, and will only be using the Blazer and Suburban if I'm hunting my local spots. I drove to Baton Rouge and back last week (7 hours) on a $30 tank of gas in my accord.

I slept 2 nights in it so far while scouting this year. Plenty of room in the trunk. Throw a big cooler in there, quarter your deer, throw it in. That's how I got my 9 point home last year.

Am I the only one who read this, thought @Nutterbuster slept in his trunk, and wasn't surprised?:)

Lol. To clarify, there's room in the trunk for gear. I sleep like a baby reclined in the passenger seat. 5 days a week, actually. We commute and hour and a half to work. She drives mornings, I drive evenings. I nap in the morning, because hunting is hard.

For those with cars/suvs/vans - what do you do with roadkill? Super easy with my truck to throw them in the back, no worry about blood all over.

(I just admitted on a public internet forum that I pick up roadkill. Is that a bad thing??)
I have used a Dodge Minivan for several years. I carry a 5' Kids Plastic Sled from Sept Thru Feb. All the Seats Are Down. Tie Deer in Sled and Straddle Sled and Slip Into the Back Door. Easy to Move Around, No Mess or Blood. My Van Looks Like a Sporting Goods Store in the Back and all is Dry and Locked Up. Its Actually Pretty Handy and they are Cheaper than a New Ford Truck

I will have to be buried in my 4runner! That thing is unstoppable and when I get the urge I can take the top off and it is like a pick-up truck with a roll bar! I just wish the newer ones still had removable tops!

You can find a Jeep Wrangler TJ for that price. The inline 6 is bulletproof. Put a hard top on it and take the back seat out and you have plenty of storage, and it will go anywhere. I hunted out of one for years.

Pre 99-00 is what to look for.... After that the 4.0 gets a different ignition system that is crazy expensive and problematic.... Personally I'd look for the 4banger. The 4 liter is a pig at almost 500 pounds

To put in perspective...jeep 4.0 i6 weights the same as Chevy 350 v8 or Ford 302-351w

My first car was a Delta 88 until a tree jumped out in front of me.

I've also been known to tow deer home with a street bike down the gravel road (on Halloween - wonder if anyone saw me). So, really anything goes, but these days the 16 yr old 4x4 truck works great. I'm thinking a company truck is in the future for next year maybe.
I always thought you were a little crazy...now I know for sure. Towing a deer down the road with a street bike. I would love to hear the whole story behind that one. You show start a new thread "Street bike deer tow"
