New York Saddle Hunters

Rained most all weekend. Except snowed at 4:00 Sunday! Not much movement. Saw a couple of does eating black berries and some maple leaves. Even the scraps weren't touched in a while. 40 mph winds also helped! Wyoming co.
Saw a small 6/8 point Friday morning then I didn't hunt past that because it rained like a cow pissing on a flat rock all weekend
Didn't realize you guys out west got as much weather. The front Saturday brought some rough rain and wind but the weekend was otherwise uneventful. Sightings are almost nonexistent on the orchard I hunt on. The region was slammed with EHD and it seems those that survived last year are being ravaged again this year. I'm going to switch gears and focus back on the properties I'm in as part of the Westchester co. management program which I largely neglected last year holding out hopes that the orchard in 3J would turn around.

I went for a couple of scouts/hunts over the weekend,4F. Not much sign but I laid eyes on some does yesterday when it was too dark and got busted bellycrawling to a group of does today. Made it to 40 yds,I needed 10 more but the wind swirled. They didn't even bolt just looked around for a long time and then walked off. That will be different in month from now, haha. Does were munching on browse, blackberries. We don't seem to have much for acorns this year,it was a bumper crop last year.

Been working since Friday so haven't been out. With EHD hitting the Hudson Valley hard again this year I might focus most of my time in the neighboring states.

I'm in Dutchess and hunt here and Columbia Co. I've only sat a few times here so far so I can't honestly say how bad it is. I know last year I experienced a drastic reduction in the number of deer I saw compared to previous years in the same areas. This year seems to be shaping up the same way judging by the reduced deer sightings on my property alone.

I'm in 4g. Saw a few smaller deer last weekend when I was out. Have a couple nice deer on trail cams. A couple days out in the saddle and I've seen more then all last season.

Ok same for me. I live in Poughkeepsie and hunt a little here and we weren’t impacted too much but I know at the gun club in Hyde Park they pulled a number of deer out of the pond last year. Where I spend a lot of time in Ulster numbers plummeted.
