I’m using wild edge steps with a perch. Not figured everything out yet, so hoping someone can help me. I’m climbing with a knaider and swaider and I love it. However, when I’m up on my top step, what is the proper way to lower myself down 2 feet so I can get the perch installed and recammed? On my last hunt, I was able to get it set easily, but couldn’t quite reach it to recam it once the perch was installed. I can’t go down a step because I’m using a knaider and swaider and it’s 5’ down, and I can’t clear the platform with my stomach using the knaider and swaider. What is the proper way to move down the tree a good 2-3 feet while hooked in to my tether so I can set this up safely and then climb back up, and same way for getting down.

Easiest way would be not expecting 5 feet out of the last step. If you need that height you could add a prussik to your tether and hook the swaider into it and take a step down.
