my first saddle arrived yesterday, Tethard Phantom. SYS hauler on each side. Linesman rope on one side tether in the other side. when I put it on and walk around I feel like its gonna fall off, like I have my pants around below my butt cheeks type feeling.. The waist belt is tight, , leg loops are tight. bridge was pulled tight. is this just a natural feeling of wearing a saddle that I will get used to or am I completely missing something here. Dumb question I know but it was driving me nuts walking around with the feeling I had to keep pullin my pants up. .

Roll it up put it in your pack and carry it to your tree and then put it on. I never wear my saddle while walking. Now I use an e-bike and my saddle goes in my saddlebags.

I agree. I can’t stand all that weight on my hips walking in. Sometimes I just thrown the bridge over my shoulder like a sling and walk in if I’m not taking a pack.

Two options I see

1. Get suspenders and attach to molle loops
2. Jerry rig your LB and/or tether as suspenders

I like option 1 and use Perry suspenders. That said, I never put on saddle until I am at the tree. Option 2 might be better for weight weenies.

Don't have a phantom, but I don't have that feeling with mine when wearing it in. What is your waist size?

Search "Battle belt" on SH. Many people add a belt to keep the saddle down lower where they like it for climbing without it falling down.

I use a sling type saddle and pull it up over my waist and tighten belt to walk in. I too can't stand that saggy feeling. No idea how anyone can wear their jeans like that......

I don't have a phantom, I have a flex but I wear mine to the tree. I have a pouch on mine that holds both lines. What I do is keep the waist tight but leg loops loose. That way it doesn't slide down but my legs remain loose for walking and climbing. When I get set in the tree I'll snug the leg loops a bit but not super tight. You get a bit more constriction during the colder months cuz there's more material. Adjust accordingly.

I don't put any gear on my saddle. As someone here put it so eloquently before, I'm a sufferer of noassatall disease. I have trouble keeping pants up let alone a weighted saddle. I moved my dump pouch onto my pack to keep it off my waistline. This lets me wear my my saddle in without too many issues. The other benefit is that there is nothing on the back of the saddle to scrape on the tree if I need to turn around while hunting for any reason.

Before you go trying to relocate things, shed weight off your rig, or adding a pack to carry in your saddle with all your attached junk....

Try what @sojourner said and "Jerry rig your LB and/or tether as suspenders". It costs you nothing and a quick search here will turn up plenty of threads supporting it's efficacy.

Man I wish I had your problem. I have child bearing hips, or as my wife puts it, sir mixalot butt.

I don't have a phantom, I run a mantis and always ran my LB over my shoulders. It takes the weight of the rope off the saddle and acts as suspenders.

X2. Putting the linesman belt over your shoulders behind you neck and clipping it in on the opposite side loop will help. I don’t have a phantom but this works with my mantis.

After putting on some suspenders, I don't care how much "stuff" I carry in the pouches attached to the saddle. I can put it on, skip a pack have all stuff with me and never worry about the saddle sliding down.

im really thinking of getting molle condor harness suspenders for this reason. do you have pictures?

I've had similar issues with my kestrel. My solution is going to be to daisy chain my LB behind me and have 1 removable dump pouch. I'm going to 8 mm oplux for LB & tether too. I want to walk in and out with nothing hanging from my saddle.

While Turkey hunting and using a turkey vest, I did some retail research and found a tactical vest on Amazon. I replaced the suspenders with the vest and like it so far. Big bonus is the holster for the pistol, as a hip holster and a saddle don't go well together. I'm thinking about using the magazine pouches for the folding saw and similar items. I also tested already if my big winter coat will fit over the vest, which leaves me with the options to wear the vest under or over the coat, depending on weather, temperature and personal preference. The vest came with a battle belt, to which I attached the saddle. Time in the woods next season will tell. Maybe I'll add carabiners to connect vest and saddle, so I even could unclip the vest once up in the tree and take it off. Plenty to play around with while the weather is nice and cool here in NC.

With the mole straps on the back, I hope to eliminate a back back completely. Items such as the field processing kit, for sure not needed while in the tree could be put on the back part of the vest.
