No Shame Coffee Thread

I like their French Roast.

However I recently found a French press coffee maker at the local Goodwill for like 3 bucks. Had all parts and works great. Now I need to figure out what coffee I like. Started with Sumatra.
And do I want to take a yeti of hot water or get a small stove for the water? Decisions Decisions lol.
French press makes it much better, especially a $3 French press. I have a backpacking micro stove that I use to heat water.

My life has become delightfully hectic in the past year. I've got a dream family and a dream job, but the downside is that work, play, and family life all bleed in together and I wind up working from sunup to sundown. Taking a break from writing an article right now, actually.

I've been trying to establish rituals to help ease me out of work mode and into relaxation. I've rediscovered the joys of a really good bourbon in a mixed drink, but I try to limit that to one drink Friday and Saturday night. I've been brewing a cup of decaf the other nights to try and wind down, but I'd like to spice it up some.

What's a really good creamer/addition to a cup of coffee that doesn't have booze? I'm also not opposed to something with a little preparation or "ritual" to it. Actually mixing a drink seems to do as much or more to make me disconnect from work as the drink itself.

You can buy the Torani syrups in a myriad of flavors for something simple, my wife and I have a caramel and cookie something on tap so to speak most of the time.

A thing I’ve come to enjoy is making cold brew. I do about 1/4-1/3 cup of ground for every cup of water. Shake it up in a mason jar and let it sit overnight to whenever I get to it the next day. Run it through cheesecloth twice and that’s your base.

From there you can mix it with water, milk, whatever suits your fancy and a squirt or two of flavoring. It won’t get you coffee the first night but each time gets you a ritual, something to do.

Burning the candle at both ends is the male form of nesting knowing you gotta keep a young one fed for 18 years....tuff to pull back from but you will need to when they get old enough to want your attention or they will resent the things you did to suport them.no man on his death bed says i wish i worked more.i like cinnimon

You need a traditional bow and a handful of arrows.

A good frother is #1. Whips up a hot or cold, creamy topping for your drink. I think we use Nutpods brand creamer.

Since I’ve acquired my med card THC honey in coffee is the bees knees.

The Celestial Seasonings herbal teas are nice. Maybe have a special cup for it, or a chair you sit in while you drink it.

If you're not averse to tobacco, depending on different variables it takes between 15 and 35 minutes to properly smoke a cigar or pipe. Don't inhale. Putting on your smoking boots and smoking coat, sitting in your smoking chair, and silently contemplating the smoke gives you a chance to process the day and transition to the next stage.

Rituals are important. They don't have to be ceremonies or elaborate, just something that's significant to you.

I carry a gun at work. I have a small child at home. I have a lock box in my front hall closet, next to a hook rack full of baseball caps. First thing I do when I come home is lock up my gun and work truck keys, and hang up my work hat. Then I go to the bedroom and swap my work pants for home pants. I have 'work hats' and 'home hats'. I don't wear jeans or shorts to work, and don't wear cargo pants or slacks or a uniform around the house. Similar to Mr. Rogers swapping his coat and oxfords for cardigan and sneakers, we saw him doing that and you knew he was there to spend time with us. I started doing all of things out of practicality, but later came to recognize the importance and value of these rituals.
