New to Saddle Hunting with a few questions. I've been lurking on this forum for a couple of months and there is a huge amount of information available with an equal amount of options for every part of a saddle kit. This if giving me decision vapor lock so hopefully the good members here can help me narrow it down somewhat. I'm a fairly big guy 6'3" 275# with a 42-44" waist. In decent shape for being 59 and don't foresee any physical issues with a saddle.

#1 Saddle - looking at the following but can't determine what would fit me best without dropping mad money on them all
  • Cruzr Archon or XC, (sz 3)
  • Tethrd Phantom XL
  • Lattitude Method 2 XL
  • Overwatch Transformer (sz 2)
  • TX5 Reaper XL
#2 Climbing method - I'll start off with multiple sticks and then try one sticking & 2TC. Once I figure out which I like better will try repelling for my descent.

#3 Platform -
  • LWCG Ambush
  • Cruzr Seeker
  • Tethrd Predator XL
I'll save the rope, carabiner, mechanical aid questions for another day. I figure if I can break the vapor lock on the basics to get me sitting in a tree I'll have the summer to get comfortable and tune it so I'm ready for a full day sit come next October.

Thanks in advance for any & all advice.

Where are you in VA. I have a TX 5 and love it. I would go with the Mission platform. I put the mission on the tree right next to the Predator XL. Sold the predator the next day. I am 6'3" 250ish 45yo size 14/15 boots. I am in VA Beach. I one stick on a cut down helium or beast depending on the day on public. Climb on bolts on private.

Thanks I'm in Fredericksburg. Can't use bolts all land I hunt is timber company, restricted private, or public. I'll add the mission platform to my list

Come to the light, the JX3 tree saddle light..............
Don't be afraid, you will sit from dark to dark very comfortably, be able to snooze when you want, no dreaded hip pinch, no back aches, you can shoot 360° around the tree with any weapon, bow or gun.
No platform required, only a ROS, no sore feet, no knee pads required, no sore knees, no tired legs from leaning as you can sit all day, built in pack frame for carrying all your needs. No getting into “saddle shape” as your Lazy Boy at home does it for you. Buy once, cry once.

Cruzr XC, as a personal recommendation! I tried the 2-panel deal; and it is just as comfortable, if not slightly more comfortable, than a single panel; but there was too much fiddle-factor for me. I prefer the simplicity of a single panel. That being said, at some point I will own a Flat Branch Outdoors and a TX5 Lonestar.

I have used three different saddle over the past 2 years and after a ton of research, I just purchased the Cruzr XC. I have used it for 1 full sit. There is a reason that all saddles are compared to the Cruzr XC.

As far as the platform, I do not use one of the 3 mentioned but like the LWCG Ambush. It seem more refined than the others.

Since your hip measurement is just as important as waist measurement, I would you choose a saddle with a good return policy.
Not familiar with the policy of these brands but companies like Tree Hopper offer a "Give it a try and if you’re not completely satisfied, ship it back for a full refund of the purchase price." Dryad also offers a 30 day no questions asked return window. I own both of these saddles and like them both.
I just ordered a Trophy Line EDP, I have a size 14 to 15 boots, so I am hoping this will work for me. They have a 20% off promo right now through tomorrow.
