Not a spiritual person but...

Wow thats a great hunting memory. Im sorry for your loss & congrats on a beauty velvet buck! Now what are you gonna do rest of year? Harvest does, go on to a different state, scout for next year or all three?

Very cool story! I am a “spiritual guy,” so to speak, and I have often been amazed at how God moves in such cool and mysterious ways. Maybe this is a gentle nudge to revisit where you stand on things and consider He might be calling you to forge a new relationship with Him. Even if not, I hope you remember that day, that tree, that buck, and your dad, and how it all came together in such a special way, for the rest of your life. Take care, and God bless!

Thanks for sharing this story. Glad it will be a memory you get to cherish for the rest of your life. What a beautiful tree, too.

I’d say I’ve been in a spiritual reflection period in the last couple of years. Nature has been one of my strongest anchors in the midst of it all. Creation and nature is really inspirational.

Glad your first year on the 88 was a great start!

In 2020 my father died suddenly. This is the man that tought me to hunt fish and the out doors. Well he left me a some stuff behind with passing. So in his memory I bought 88 acres. On this land there is a large oak tree I fell in love with. I said this is the spot! I built a cross had a little gathering and on opening day of ky bow season 2020 we spread my father's ashs on my new farm under the big tree and placed his cross. Fast forward a year 2021 I have a deer showing up around my dad's tree. I said if i kill a deer it has to be this one it full velvet out of dad's tree or I'm not ending my season this early. In ky we only get one buck tag. I did not want to damage the tree and its to large for my straps on my climbing sticks so I leaned a ladder against it and said if its ment to be it will happen. Well it happened I climbed the ladder tethered in to a limber and just stode on another limb of top of my father's ashs he walked by at 20 yards I double lunged him. And watched him fall at 60. Like I said I'm not a spiritual person but idk what else to say my dad was with me and i will never forget that hunt. Tuesday we go see the taxadermist
Wow, awesome story and buck! Sorry for the loss of your Dad. What a way to honor his legacy and his memory.

Awesome story. I go to the spot grandpa shot his last deer before he died and I shoot one from that stand every year. Every single year. Last year last hour I hadn’t seen anything then talked to him and said really? Your gonna do me like that this year? 5 minutes later I was doubled up! Awesome story. Glad you made it happen! Awesome memory to have!

Congrats! Epic story, I've had moments like that as well. For me it's owls. My grandmother loved owls. Every time I have a close encounter with one while hunting I kill a buck.

awesome story. i wish you still had your dad and not the story, but nothing we can do about that at this point. i don't know if he's out there anywhere or not, but if he is, he's probably smiling. if he's anything like mine he'd have gotten a bigger kick out of the decision to use the ladder than anything else, his catch phrase is "get it organized" which actually means "get it completed, one way or another". he always does. looks like you did too!

Amazing Story man!
Sorry for your loss, I know it’s got to be tough, and I’m not far behind you.
He’s always with you
