Got an ask from my MIL for a present for my FIL. He’s retiring and wants a police scanner. Other than digital is needed for their area.... I’m lost.

Anyone? Under $400 if possible. Also Amazon is a plus.

Thanks in advance. There’s gotta be some folks on here that know a thing or two about these.

I’ve always run Uniden Bearcat models with really happy results. I know the digital units run a little higher (maybe $300-500 range). If he is desiring to move it from home to vehicle look into handheld units. If he just wants to keep it in the living room, a base scanner will be better equipped and carry better reception, but may also carry a little higher price tag. Can’t say I’ve used any other brand scanner other than my Motorola Fire/EMS pager, but that’s a little different character. Can’t say I have a ton of experience with the digital units, but these do take some time/studying or experience to get them setup up.

Perfect. I was in the right area. Had already looked at both of those. Thanks for the advice.
