Notch V3 Quickie

I attach mine to a loop on the line end, figure 8, and then just clip it to the main line with a stopper knot on the main line
works good, a little heavy , but a nice piece of equipment

when you put it on, I put the round end around the main line, if the pin end is on the main line it sits funny on the tree
putting force on the pin, which I didn't like
10mm line fits thru the shackle when it is opened one notch, so you don't loose the pin. 11.5 is tight thru the opening

@kyler1945 was modeling one off earlier... (it matched his 'skinny jeans') :kissingheart:

Hey they were skinny pants not jeans!

real talk, prana stretch Zions…. Get some they’re awesome.

On the knots for notch… I don’t give specific climbing advice. But I use the same knot I did before I had the notch. Nothing changed once I incorporated it into the mix.

Thought I would bring this back up, anyone using one of these today?
I've been using one this whole season. I just used a scaffold knot.

Pros is its really easy to open & close one handed & makes quick work around limbs.

Cons are its heavy & the mouth is really big. I'm using canyon c-iv & the combination makes it fall way to easy. I've since added a ohm tether locker. Even with that, it doesn't hold as tight as I'd like in some situations. Makes having to attach & detach the ohm lockers every move a pain in the rear when one sticking.

For members that use the quickie.... How do you keep it from falling under slack? I really like the ergonomics, just wished it was a little smaller to hold better.

I use one and when I'm climbing up a step there is slack in the line which is convenient because I need slack to work the rope up the tree. I then choke it and tend my slack and go on to the next step and repeat.
It doesn't get the chance to fall this way. Either I'm on it or I need the slack to move up.
I do get what your saying though.

I should add I don't use a linemans cord when I'm single stiking so as soon as I tend my slack, I have slack again as I go to my top step. Tending slack temporarily removes slack and you only ever have one step of slack at a time until you hang for your next move with the stik.

I hated mine. I couldn't get rid of the noise that the pin makes wiggling around.

I got away from using a stopper knot this year on mine, It was recommended here to try out a hard neoprene washer for a stopper
instead of a stopper knot,
I bought a pack from McMaster carr and it works way better than the knot, takes up less space and keeps the quickie in place in between
moves up a tree
I bought washers 1-1/2" OD x 1/8" with a 3/8" hole, fits my 10.5 mm climbing rope good

I hated mine. I couldn't get rid of the noise that the pin makes wiggling around.

I got some heat shrink just a touch bigger than the end of the pin. It served two purposes, made it quiet and it made what little bit of slop disappear

I used howies hockey tape on mine. Love that stuff. I just wrapped really tight & used a razer to cut the hole. No more rattle & the pins still realease with one hand. I didn't tape the slidable rod. No need to.
