Novix Mini Mods

Set of 4. I added double steps from Eastern Woods Outdoors to the top of 3 sticks. I have 5 steps altogether. I use a 5 step aider on the bottom step and use the other sticks with the double steps as my top 2 steps .

So how much does your system weight and how high can you get?

I have a messed up back, the saddle is not the issue its the weight going in I need to watch. Trying to cut the weight a bit for the longer hikes in.

Thanks
Dave

The price on the website, are these each or for a set of 4?

I am looking for some lighter sticks, It seems to be that a double step may be easier for me, any one else feel that way and find the single steps worked well for them after all?

Thanks
Dave
Yeah 160 for a 4 pack. I have lone wolf's and beast sticks and more often then not I grab the lone wolf's.

I will check when I get home I honestly don’t know
No, if you stagger them like crazy to miss the double step then yes but it’s not pretty, I just leave those sticks on my mission all the time stacked. Those were API steps in that picture, since then I have replaced them with Dano’s ultralight angled double steps, much nicer.

Are you stacking them 4 high with the or in pairs on the mission with double steps?

In pairs, I have since sold that set up however, but I used to stack them in pairs.

What
Stealth strips, daisy chains and cable aiders for me. Never cared for aiders but these feel much more solid. They don't feel like they want to kick to the left or the right, they stay open and don't flap in the wind. I'm 5'6" and I'm getting to 18 feet without stretching. Really loving this setup so far.

What length Cable Aiders do you have? I’m 5’6 andI’m about to order the Novix Double Step Minis.

I’d keep them 17” and under so they don’t exceed the length of the stick profile.

I have the 20in aiders but I am planning on switching to the 16in when they are back in stock. I really had to stretch during the late season with bulky winter clothes. For warm weather I had no issues with the 20in, though.

You think I is be good with the some 17 or 18 inch aiders?

I think either would be fine but I can't say for sure. It might be different for you depending on how flexible you are and how bulky or tight your clothes are. I figured I would just wait on ewo to have the 16in back in stock just to be on the safe side.

I think I’m going to wait and get the 16 as well.

Here's my current setup:

Stealthstripped the entire set. Added an angled monarch to the top stick. I also use a regular cam buckle strap for the top stick while I used versa straps for the three lower steps.

I made an aider from tubular webbing on the bottom stick, with some 1/2" pex inserted in the webbing for surer footing.

I attach them stacked as so to the back of Kuiu Venture 1800 pack.

The steps dont stack quite perfectly with the monarch added, but they carry quiet and out of the way on the pack.

Ahhhh... the Titan Strap craze of late 2020 eluded you eh? Saddlehunter effect has probably subsided and they're in stock.

Voile strap is similar. I think they are both marketed as ski straps.

I couldn't get rid of the wiggle from the monarch as bolted on my top stick.
I drilled a second hole in the monarch to match up with holes on the stick, and additionally, added a bit of JBweld type epoxy before bolting stuff back together. Sturdy as a mug now.
