Novix tree stand!

My comfort in hang ons varies greatly. I've could sit in my alpha for hrs no problem. But I don't consider it a mobile option. It's too wide and gets caught on too much brush. My .5 was the worst I've ever sat in. The seat was too small, post not high enough, and couldn't stand how much my feet hung off the edge. Sitting in the yard for the few minutes I was in it, I think I'm in for a treat with the beast. But I will know for sure come season

Are you guys honestly finding these cast / machined seats more comfortable than a properly fit saddle?
I do. I like the saddles I've used the last 3 years. They are way more comfortable and packable/wearable for the walk in/out (obvious statement).

But the two hang ons I've used (Assault 2 & M100u) are both more comfortable to hunt out of.

Tradeoffs. Be happy walking or be happy sitting. Choose one (for me).

Just like climbing systems. Some suck on the walk. Some suck when packing. Some suck to climb with. They all suck for different reasons, but I'm convinced hunting elevated helps me see and kill deer, so I chose my suck and live with it.

Yea, the M100u is a cozy setup. I was asking about the cast/machined seat hang-ons.

You'd rather sit on the Assault 2 seat than hang in a saddle?

Sorry. My mind, and thus my posts, tends to wander/stretch off topic. It's a flaw.

Yes, I do prefer my Assault 2 over my saddles while hunting. I don't dislike the saddles, they're just not as comfortable. I'm more fidgety in them. I love how they allow smooth and silent pivots though. In my Assault 2 I can sit like a statue for hours. Occasionally standing up smoothly to lean against the tree with that great silent seat. I don't mind it's weight or profile, but it sucks to pack sticks with (weight, bulk and process).

I don’t like sitting in a saddle but my feet arthritis doesn’t like me leaning in a saddle for hours either so I’m constantly searching for my solution.

This is probably a good stand for you then.

I have two problems with these cast/machined seats.

1. Discomfort
1a. Weight

1. These cast/ machined seats are torture to me. I'm ok standing, so I could see the stands as an option for shortish part-day hunts, otherwise, the seats are a major factor in my choosing the saddle or a Millennium.

1a. If I don't want to sit on it other than to do something like don a HBS, why tote around the extra 2lbs? (about the same as Predator's base). At least using the seat as a knee pad (LWCG .5) or carry shelf give some extra purpose to that weight

So...I wonder why we haven't seen aftermarket seats for these otherwise awesome stands to address 1 or 1a?

1. Other companies have run Millennium style seats, how bout a comfy aftermarket seat for a standard post?
1a. For you spartans who enjoy such seats, how bout a carbon fiber seat, like on a crew shell?
1b. How bout a purpose built seat-knee pad (kneat sknee:)) for hybrid users?

I wonder if a foam wedge might ease some of that arthritis discomfort. You'd still have plenty of flat space if you ran one on the tree end of a hang-on.

Having grown up with the heavy steel locon stands weighing 25#, with terrible seats, a Lone Wolf Assault seat has never been an issue for me. I hunted out of one all last season and I never felt like I was compromising on comfort.

Guy says it adds 8 oz for $87.00 tyd, aftermarket replacment mesh seat for LWs.

I saw these a few months back and have been tempted to get one. But that seat would be about half the cost of the stand itself.

Nice!

Thought I saw one on a beast stand. Didn't know they're being sold.

Nice. Is that the Lg or Sm?

Like takes your money and leaves you high and dry?

he loves his lone wolf stuff lmao

Yeah, he went on a commenting spree a while back where he found any excuse to talk about how Andre was ahead of his time, such a visionary, etc. Quite the bromance.

Anyway, not to derail-- I have muddy ultra seats on all of XOP stands. They must be discontinued or another covid shortage, because they're getting tough to find. But they were 35 to 45 bucks last summer.
