Nutterbuster and Scooby-Doo

Great info. I have a 2011 ram 4x4. Its currently stuck in driveway in snow and im over it. Im seriously looking at a Suburu now that we have a new born as well to fit in back seat. How roomy is the driver seat? I am 6’5” and hate sitting with knees above my chest. Feels like a dog sliding his rear on the carpet as i go down the highway in rentals or ride in friends “cars”.

Mine has more room than anything I've driven except maybe my old suburban. I did 3 consecutive 8-10 hour driving days and had more room to stretch out than I needed. My buddy who inspired me to buy one is 6' 2" and has owned 3 of them.

I had Yokohama geolanders on my Honda CRV that I liked a lot. I’ve

Subaru’s are actually quite roomy. We have a forester and an outback. The outback is a bit bigger inside and out. My father in law is around 6ft and has owned two outback’s. He’s been well pleased with the room. We got about six inches of snow yesterday and my scooby handled it like a champ this morning. I’m originally from the south so I always hated driving in the snow, I kinda like it now.

oh man, i should've seen this conversation earlier.

starting a few months ago my 06 Chevy Impala was starting to have a "engine power reduced" indicator come on, at first it would go away and was randomly timed. As these things tend to do, it got gradually worse and worse, I took it to my mechanic who diagnosed the issue from the computer and ordered replacement parts for it. he tried 3 different parts in it and could not get the issue to go away, he finally said that its "beyond his abilities". well its at the point of diminishing returns on that vehicle anyways, so i went on the hunt for a new vehicle.

I found this beauty on January 6th, its an 04 Subaru Outback with 180k miles on it for 2k. I've always heard of the loyalty of 'Ru owners and wanted to own one for many years, being as snow is an issue for a majority of the year in Minnesota. Both the husband and wife that were the previous owners have owned multiple Subaru's over the years and the only reason she was selling was because her hubby bought her a brand new Subaru Outback. I jumped on it and have thoroughly enjoyed it so far. I pulled into my brothers yard, which had about 2ft of snow in it, pulled right in, parked and backed out with no issue, I would have never pulled that off in my Impala.

Yeah, we'll probably end up with another one. I've driven beaters long enough that I've realized for me, they don't make sense. I'm not mechanically savvy enough to fix them myself and driving remote means you can pay a grand just to tow it back to the mechanic.

I was really impressed with how cheap they are for what you get and the rep they have. You about can't find a cheaper car new. Only bad thing is they hold value so well a 2 year old car costs what a dang new one does.

Awesome thanks. I just talked to a friend that is about as tall as me. Turns out he just put his big black lifted truck into a median at 70 and was given a suburu for a courtesy vehicle. He has since purchased a suburu.$25 per week savings on gas according to him. He is 6’4” and declares its roomy inside without the feeling of crawling off the ground to get out of it. Im excited to begin the search for one and a guy to come get this ram crap out of my driveway.

I'll eventually get to the point I can drive a new vehicle, i got less than a year left to pay on my house, then it's mine. I'll definitely be looking at a Subaru when I do

Yeah, the mileage is nice. Old blazer got maybe 15mph on a good day. Suby averaged 32 over 1300 miles.

I’m 6-3 and have had 2 and never had a complaint about room. I’m seriously considering another one......

Crosstrek has adjustable steering wheel, but that being said my friend was 6’1 and 280. He felt cramped. I know the forester has a bigger footprint.

To make matters worse I was doing the SC truck warming maneuver of running outside in your underwear to crank the truck when I noticed I had made a gigantic error.

Running outside in your underwear to crank your truck and THEN you noticed you made an error.

Yes, lmao. In SC you scramble outside and crank your truck in your underwear then come back inside to get dressed while it warms up. It’s normal.....it makes perfect sense.....but, at -27° not so much.

I made it about 2 steps towards that truck and knew I had made a gigantic error in judgement. Turned my pink ass around and headed back inside with the swiftness. I had 3 roommates, one from Dallas, one from Tucson and one from San Jose, CA.......all I could say was, “we’re gonna die”

In Alabama we get dressed, then crank the truck, then go inside and make the coffee while the truck warms up. We're smart like that.

I will miss remote start on the Ram 4x4 but not so much with the fish tailing. My coworker has a crosstrek and its too small for me. Either be the Forester or Ascent. A neighbor pulled up in some special edition ram rebel thing and asked if I wanted help pulling the truck out of snowy ditch. I said no, im hoping to sell it and the new owner comes and gets it because i am looking at a more capable vehicle like a Subaru and dont need 2 Ram trucks stuck on my property. The look on his face was priceless.

Crosstreks are tiny. More car-like. I wouldn't want one. The outbacks seem nice and if I'd have found one for the right price with the right miles I'd have snapped it up. Forester is that mama-bear car. Not too big, not too little, just right

You guys from the south crack me up. Saturday morning I went out to the road and got the mail in my bare feet . . .yes in the snow. Temperature was right around 0F. No big deal. Now, on the other hand I turn into a slug for anything above 85F so I guess its just what you're accustomed to. :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy:
