Just started thinking about squirrel hunting last year. Was never something I did growing up. I shot 3 on one hunt last year with my .22. Problem is I usually don't do it til deer season ends with is end of January. By then I've only got Feb. to work with. What's your alls late season tricks and tips?

Nice. I’ve killed a pile with my ultra grade Kidd Custom 10/22. I was perfectly happy with it until kyler1945 started gabbing about how quiet and portable his fancy air rifle was. And them I went down that rabbit hole.
I built my kidd it has all kidd hardware even have the 2 stage trigger ,they are tack drivers I can group inside a soda can at 100 yd benched ,my scope isn't set for anything over that lol

What do you mean you dont gut them? You dont keep the backstraps? I skin mine like that sorta. I pull the hide down to the neck, pull the front legs through and cut head off with the hide. Split 'em open to discard the inards, rinse and into a gallon zip lock whole. A pair of side cutters, a sharp knife and some experience is all you need to clean skwerls.

Anyone have some advice? Times of day? Weather? Non stop walk or pick a spot and wait 15 then move?

I try to focus on areas where I know there were good crops of acorns or pecans. Nothing much at all still in the trees so they will be ground feeding more. Move slow and watch for low movement once you are in an area that has feed. Also, the rut is on right now here so there is plenty of chasing. Listen for them chasing on tree trucks and the vocalizations they make when chasing. Be prepared to make longer shots on feeding skwerls but you can still get tight the ones chasing if you move slow and use cover. Bright sunshine and low wind, esp after a rain is about perfect conditions but who has time to wait for perfect. Fox skwerls seem to move a little better up in the morning some rather than at first light but grays will be out at first light usually. If I am not in a feed area I will move with a little more pace and stop to listen and watch well in the distance while heading towards other feed areas. Get a skwerll call and watch Nutterbuster's calling video. An alarm bark like they make when an owl or hawk flies by will get them going so you can pinpoint targets.

I haven’t been keeping count, forgetting to take pictures, and the little buggers keep falling in creeks and inaccessible spots.
Anyway, here is my meager submission from today.

I was going to post that your previous shot of the cleaned and vacuum-packed squirrel next to the Leshiy was the sexiest picture ever...but this one with the white squirrel and the Edgun takes the cake!

Thanks. The white one was actually my first squirrel with the Leshiy and it was on top of a mountain in PIsgah National Forest. It was a really cool moment for me. I bet there wasn’t anyone within 5 miles. I just sat there and kind of savored the moment for a while.
