Nutterbuster's Treehopper Recon Sling Video

Yeah I'll give him a call. Figured I'd see if he'd given them to you and said something about them being available if you called or something.
I know he said he wanted to sell them, but they're not on the site. He's a small business and I know probably half the stuff I've ordered has involved an email. It's kinda goofy, but I'd rather have it available in a goofy way than not at all

That dang ole nutterbuster and them there stupid vidjas of his.

@sweats, I think mark will get you sorted before the end of the season. I know he did tell me he was hoppin' here in the past few weeks.
It's not a big deal and he's been very responsive to my emails so I know he's just busy with lots of orders.

When you gonna y’all about that tether you got there Nutterbuster?? Looks interesting

I emailed him about the new pedals. He got back to me after a few days. I’ve got them now, but haven’t had a chance to mess around with them yet

With your tether lower on the tree do you attach your gear/bow holder lower too?
I'm not carrying all that much gear. It mostly fits in a small pack that I hang from the tag end of my tether. It hangs just below platform height. it's never in my way for a shot and doesn't obscure my vision. There's not much I need from the pack during the hang so I seldom need to pull it up to access it. Binocs, cell phone, milkweed, and a couple apples fit into my pockets. My bow position is the same regardless of my tether height. When I'm leaning, the bow handle is generally about elbow height.

Wouldn't that make you pack swing around if you tried to maneuver around the tree for a shot? Or am I not understanding something?

That's a good point. But so far, it hasn't been an issue for me. One thing about a low tether is that there isn't much free space between the clinch and the Ropeman. I get most of my "travel" via the bridge, not so much with the tether. On small to medium trees, I can usually move as far around as I need to without lengthening the tether. I can imagine how my set up could be an issue on larger trees.
I guess this is another trade-off thing. I don't like packs regardless of where they get hung. Too high, or from head to feet, or the back side of the tree is all annoying to me. Hanging it from the tether is relatively new to me but so far its working, and the thing is never in my way...but you do make a valid point. I very well may reevaluate with more hunting time.

Received my Recon yesterday evening. Put my dump pouches on. Went to the tree in the front yard and hung at ground level. This thing is almost as comfortable as my diy fleece but 10x lighter by the time you factor a harness in. Found a lower tether and 24" bridge to be quite comfortable for leaning. I've got to find i way to keep the top panel on top after loosening the waist belt. Gravity makes the top panel the bottom panel and everything in the pouches end up on the ground if they're not sinched. I did expect this though! I'm working on a fix for this.

I hate to be that guy but can I ask when you ordered? I'm still waiting on mine and while I'm a patient guy, and I know I chose to order late, and I know Nutter's video created a backlog...

Flipping the webbing goes a long way for helping with dump pouch/gravity problems and comfort. I also removed leg loops and turned then into panel organizer also to help fight the gravity affect. Might end up adding leg loops later, but, liking the freedom of not needing them.

Gonna have my first hunt in mine tonight. I removed leg loops as well but like how you've used them and may try that. Good luck!

Thanks and good luck to you as well! Happy hunting

Finally able to hunt with my new Recon this weekend. I got 3 3+ hour hunts in. Having used an RCH/DIY Fleece saddle for a couple of seasons I knew it would be tough to replicate that level of comfort and safety but I came away satisfied. My biggest concern was achieving the security I felt in an RCH while one-sticking and rappelling, times where I am hanging on a rope. The other saddle I bought this season was comfortable for sitting/leaning but had me sliding out the bottom and being supported by the (non-rated) leg loops while one-sticking up the tree. Not a comfortable position to be in 18ft up. With the Recon leg loops on it kept the lower panel under my seat as I climbed and rappelled down.

One issue I had (as others mentioned) was after adding my dump pouches the top panel wanted to hang down low so I had to run a bungee between the LB loops to keep things in place until I was tethered in. Once at height and with the bridge extended the saddle is definitely comfortable for me (6ft, 185lbs, noassatall) leaning or sitting. If you are considering buying one I would recommend giving it a try.

Oh, and the rubber-coating on the plates is tres mal. I read on here where others say they removed it because it squeaked but figured they were just being a little too OCD. Nope. We had a rare calm day yesterday and every time I shifted I could hear them squeak loud enough to be heard by any deer within my limited bow range. A razor blade and some Stealth Strips are in my future.

My package came today. Recon snd Treesuit. Brief test hang in the yard.

Initial thoughts;

Recon: Very well built and very comfortable. Lots of support in all the right places. Amazingly light for how comfortable it was. The two panel thing will take some adjusting to, but I'll get there. Walking with both panels cinched high was great. I even installed fleece dump pouches for LB/T with no issues. It's weird how you have to loosen the belt when hanging, and then be ready for it to not stay put if you stand to readjust. I don't fully understand why that's so different than my Kite. I don't ever remember a problem with the waist belt.

Treesuit: Not so psyched about this thing. Weight is awesome! So light! Plenty roomy and I don't mind the non-foldable legs. I think I'll figure out how to pack it in no problem and it's like carrying nothing. My issue was getting it firmly set. There appears to be a change to it from previous models where there are now teeth along each post. These seem like they are intended to help it bite into the tree. Problem is they also prevent it from cinching down the trunk to pull any slack out of the strap. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't keep it from pulling away from the tree when I stood on it.

Anyone else have one with teeth and figure this out? I wanna love this for its weight and simplicity, but so far I'm skeptical.
