Old bow

Well I dug my old Bear Super Pro Specialist Riser out I painted many, many moons ago. Bear SPS Riser1.jpg A year or so ago I ordered these ILF plates for it from a guy on here but they are just a bit snug as you can see. How would you "Warf Bow" dudes get this to fit in the limb pocket? I think 1/32" shaved off maybe even a 1/64" and it would lay flat in there. The plates are aluminum and I'm not sure how to file them down maybe just vice it up use a hand file??? Any thoughts? I'm not sure I want to go down this rabbit hole right now but dang you guys are making me thing about it again.

Heck yeah man your almost there I'd just shave a lil off the sides with a hand file shouldn't take much.

Easiest thing to do would probably be to send them plates to me and be done with it. :tearsofjoy:

Honestly, yeah man... run it over a hand file a few times and fit check it after ever pass.

Do you still have the contact info for the guy that made your plates? Seems like no-one on Tradtalk is making them anymore.

Are those just flat plates? The dimensions I've seen are 3d with thickness difference and chamfers.... I can make flat plates all day.....

Yes sir just flat plates but with the ILF cutouts on the top side. Not sure how to file them down what do you recommend?

I will look. He also sent me one plastic spacer that goes around the limb to make it look a little more finished but only one so I probably wouldn't worry about using that.

I'm not completely sure but I believe these were specific to this type of Bear riser as the limb pockets are pretty much flat inside. Others may require the different dimensions as to the angle of the limb pockets etc. I'm not really sure at all. @Red Beard is asking for more information too I believe he was out of Ohio and posted quite often in the past. He knew this stuff cold.

I found him, its @Bigfoot522 !! He was last on in late June of this year. He may have more advice, suggestions, plates etc. He was super helpful.

So then my next question is do they make wider based ILF limbs? I know the sage limbs fit w/o the ilf system but not sure what's out there in terms of an ILF limb that will fill that wide limb pocket gap. Functionally, it probably doesn't matter and the limb bolts and nuts are wide just cosmetics but wondering what others are doing or sourcing that are not real costly either.

From what I understand it's cosmetic. There are pictures of wood fillers taht folks make up to fill the gap.

I used emery cloth on a block of wood. 3 or 4 light passes on each edge and try it. Just go easy you can do it.
