Where the skys are so blue!
My understanding is that this belonged to my great-grandad back in the day. He passed it on to my dad and when I was growing up it was his go-to stand. I set it out in turkey season as a preset, but that spot doesn't seem to be heating up so I plan on pulling it this weekend and fixing it up to hunt with on a property where I really could use a climber.

The gun holder is an aftermarket DIY job done by my dad, as is the kneeling cushion seat pad and pupe insulation on the arms. Curious if anybody can tell me what this thing is.

Summit? There were a couple of them with that same metal bracket floating around at a lease I used to hunt

I’m going with Warren and sweet stand or it also looks like a stand that I started with, believe it was an API explorer.

I believe the Baker stands looked similar but we’re normally made with plywood. I want to say Warren and Sweat but the old Warren and Sweat we had, was rounded in the front of the platform yours appears to be squared so I’m stumped.

I would have guessed the Warren &Sweat as well but at Florida Canopy Stalker is right, I think they were all rounded on the end. The early Summits, to my knowledge always had the bottom bracket below the platform instead of above like a he Baker style.

Glad I'm not the only one clueless.

Here's a 2nd angle in case it helps

It's kinda odd in that the whole thing is aluminum, and the v bars are bolted to a tube that slides in and out of the arms to adjust for tree size. It can also fold flat.

With the rifle holder on it dad made, it's a pretty effective stand.

It folds flat right? If so, Def a Warren and sweats.

Maybe an OG Buckshot if all aluminum???

Yes, it folds flat.

I don't think it has a single weld on it either. It's all bolted and riveted together.
That reminds me of the original gun slinger climbers before they were bought out by “deer crossing”. The deer crossing ones still look a lot like that except they leave the aluminum shiny where as they used to be painted. It’s pretty light for a climber and it folds down pretty flat. I was never a fan of the old boomerang style back brackets. I personally like belt or cable brackets better.

I've used belts, cables, and bars/blades. Belts and cables are lighter and easier to adjust to me, but the blades are the least likely to get hung up in my experience.

It's not a Summit. I worked there for several years and dug through piles of their old stands every day LOL. Their early ones used angle shaped back V's and had small semicircles that contacted the tree on the front side. And they were always welded of some form or another.

I bought a Warren and Sweat new from Cabelas around 1999 and it was bolted together entirely as well but doesn't look quite like yours. It definitely had teeth that contacted the tree on the front V.

But yours looks a lot more homemade for sure.

I didn't reply again but yes I looked up pics of the Summit Sabers we had at the club to refresh memory and they were a little different

If it was a home brew knock off somebody would have already hacksawed some monster teeth into those back bar blades for some extra gription.
