What method of climbing do you use?? I’m 64 my plan is on my private property is for pre sets . I will use spikes and screw ins. On non pre set stands I am thinking either one stick or three sticks. Thanks

Im 51, but rode hard and put away wet! Its encouraging to see some of the 60+ crowd still getting after it.
Im using the 2TC method exclusively now, for the climb and decent. Slower than 1 sticking, but I feel that is less exertive. It stays pretty hot here in East TN for a good part of the season and I hate to sweat on the climb.

I'm in my early 50's and I primarily one stick and rappel down. I use a stealth stripped Muddy pro stick with a rope and cam cleat. I use the Slo-Mo 24" GM Climbing loop with a zip tie installed and a castration band on it to keep it snugged up to my bottom step on the stick. After watching videos by @always89y and @Red Beard and the low cost kit needed for two tethered or (2TC) climbing, am planning on converting to that method this year. I bought the stuff to do just have to do it. I don't like to rush into anything except saddle purchases!!!

You guys are making me feel better . . . I'm 58. I'm one-sticking and rappelling. I actually find it less strenuous than I did climbing the tree with my old summit climber. It's like you get to take a little break each time you're just sitting there in the saddle while you advance the stick. Using the climber I was almost always sweating from the exertion by the time I reached hunting height. I almost never overheat one-sticking up the tree to the same height. And rappelling it of the tree is just plain fun, I've been rappelling since I started saddle hunting 5 years ago and still enjoy the ride down.

55, one stick and rappel.

Except for yesterday afternoon when I climbed a tree in my back yard to try out something new. Then I one sticked up, reached for my rappel rope and found it sitting on the ground way below me, pitched a bitch and then one sticked back down, lol

Been there, done that!!!

I think I’m 53, I’ve been using Primal steps with 5 step aider. I don’t find myself struggling with it, but it’s time for a change. I think I’m done with the minimalist approach and I’m gonna try something different. Probably sticks, this will be my off season project. I want safe and effective and ease, not weight saving.

61 and I use Trophyline mini climbing sticks, Muddy Pro sticks , Lonewolf full length sticks and Wild Edge steps. I also have full length Hawk Helium sticks but don't use the that often. I switched back and forth.

Private land, screw in steps are nice. I set a tree a few yrs ago. It was nice this yr to walk out and climb it quick, quiet, and easily. Ive got some of the really cheap ladder sticks, they feel dangerous in terms of boot slip. They aren't very far off the tree is the problem. I also like to climb a ladder stand and then go up from there if needed. On public I one stick.
