Older guys

I am 67. Climb right aluminum spurs with climb right aluminum ultra light pads, DIY straps 2" webbing top quick release buckle. 1" webbing bottom quick release buckle. 2 lineman ropes. Climb up and down. 2 min to 30'.

55, one stick and rappel.

Except for yesterday afternoon when I climbed a tree in my back yard to try out something new. Then I one sticked up, reached for my rappel rope and found it sitting on the ground way below me, pitched a bitch and then one sticked back down, lol
Bought a Ultimate One Stick and a Phantom yesterday and I will be using that this next season. I wanted to ask why don’t you use your climbing rope as your tether?

It’s just too much to keep up with (for me). Several folks on here do it though.

I`m was thinking it might take more physical strength than I have. I`m definitely going to try it though . Lots of guys and gals are doing it . Seriously disappointing I didn`t catch that last winter lol.

If you can climb a ladder, you should be able to do this. I hunt in 13,000 acres of old growth hardwoods and I like to go deep and climb high. 3 lbs vs. 20lbs for my Summit Viper, don’t have to worry about limbs, always tied to the tree and and elevator ride down at the end sounds pretty sweet. With the one stick, the only limit on how deep I can go is....how far I’m willing to drag’em out!

Im 51, but rode hard and put away wet! Its encouraging to see some of the 60+ crowd still getting after it.
Im using the 2TC method exclusively now, for the climb and decent. Slower than 1 sticking, but I feel that is less exertive. It stays pretty hot here in East TN for a good part of the season and I hate to sweat on the climb.
what distance are you getting for each move?

63 lonewolf sticks. Usually two with aider and platform. Dano double steps

66
One stick up rappel down.
Toyed with the hand climber and SRT. Keep coming back to the one stick.

I’m only 43 but I’ve been told by many doctors I have the body of a 80 year old(it’s the mileage not the years). I one stick and rappel down. My back and hips have acquired a distaste for packing weight so that setup keeps my light.

Update; 64 and only one stick/rappel. Either an UOS with a UP/Momarch or a single Tethrd ONE stick with Predator. Squirrel steps for both setups. Moved to a Kifaru system. Modular and can leave the frame on the ground and only have a small pack in the tree. Gettin old and grumpy about excess bs as i hunt

I’m 63 started using one stick and rappelling this past season.

54. No sticking with a SloMo DIY platform and rappel down. Some trees I have paracord preset so I can SRT with a ropewalking system. I might look into 2TC in the off season.

I hope by older, you meen middle age which is 60 to 80. I am 68 and I do not feel comfortable on multi step aiders. Putting the toe into the tree does not work well for me. Give it a try and see if it works for you. With a single step aider I can put myfoot sideways and I am more stable. Also the method you choose is dependent on how high you like to go. I go from 15 to 18 feet. I
am going to try 2TC this summer. My other method is steps with aiders but I am taking 16" steps and I have a better aider. I use Treehopper steps. With 6 steps I can get to 18 feet platform height and they weigh 2.5 lbs.
