I’ve broke my leg and have surgery Thursday. I’ll see if I can pack it in a mock set up and post a picture

There's very few places here in northern lower Michigan that you can't drive to easily within a half mile of your intended destination. The only reason I walk as far as I typically do is that I hunt remote from a camper parked on state land and rarely move the truck once its parked. That means I have to walk a bit more to get to most of the spots I hunt than I would if I drove and parked as close as possible. Some of the reasons I do this are:

1. I don't really like anyone knowing where I'm hunting. Parking a truck off the two track is a sure giveaway, not only while the truck is there but also from the mashed grass left behind. Same reason I won't let my buddy help me recover deer with his ATV. I just don't need a set of tracks left behind for the next guy to follow. I go so far as to walk in the center of a two track to not leave boot prints in the road.
2. I feel that people with marginal bad intentions are less likely to stop and mess with the camper (and my stuff) if they're not sure if there may be someone in there. Always a possibility when the truck is present.
3. I think (I may be wrong here but its my dream so I'm stickin' to it) that by accessing the long way around I'm not following the "path most beaten" and I may be able to surprise some deer coming in from an unexpected direction.
4. The information/intel I get on the walks in is priceless. I've been hunting most of these areas 40+ years and know them inside and out but every year I learn something new. The walks in and out are simply boots on the ground scouting telling me what the deer are doing "this year, right now".

Edit: My longest walk last year was about 1.25 miles and my shortest was 250 yds (yes I could see camp from the tree but they were traveling there despite my presence).

2-6 miles. Getting real sick and tired of the two hr hikes however. This year I have permission to access through private that connects to the back side of the public I hunt with my ebike. It should go from a 2 hr hike to 20 minute ride

I have 5 planned trips so far this year but I may have to do more since I’ll have brand new plate and screws in my leg

Good luck and speedy recovery!
Thanks. As much as I hate being down. I’m doing everything the doctors say so I can keep going that far without a hindrance. For our area. I have a stud found90416C0B-E610-4C24-9AB3-E1FA2B611A19.jpeg
