One Piece or Split Saddle

Mine is a one piece Hawk, not very big. Since I started leaning more than sitting and keeping my tether well above my head, it is really comfortable and I haven’t even used the backband lately. but if/when I get the next, it’ll have two panels or somehow be larger. Like maybe a fleece type(or jx3). I keep thinking how comfortable my tree hammock is. A butt cover or seat that is anything like a hammock has just got to be more comfortable than one with less coverage. I really like the looks of the two panels that open way up too.

That Dryad Drey looks comfortable, like a small hammock. I would probably sleep too much in it. lol.

I have two saddles currently. I started out with a Cruzr XC which is a very comfortable single panel saddle. It has an adjustable pleat in the middle that you can expand or collapse to suit your needs.

I also bought a Treehopper Recon which is a 2-panel saddle. It is made of seatbelt style webbing in two loops held apart by webbing spreaders. It is a very simple concept and works great. It is based off the original Anderson Saddle. The Eberhart Signature Saddle is another that is based off this design (probably my next commercial saddle purchase). I find the Recon to be very comfortable. With a 2-panel you have four two-inch polyester straps to support your weight. They do not stretch over time. You get to adjust how much coverage you want based on how much you spread the panels out. I usually go with about a 9-inch seat, with the top of the bottom panel even with the bottom of the top panel. I find this very comfortable and have done a couple of nearly all day sits. I am primarily a sitter, not a leaner and I use a ring of steps. All these variables will determine what you ultimately settle on.

Good luck, be safe, and have fun.
