Everyone’s opinion differs. My buddy had the same mind set as you yet I climb and rappel with a short bridge. I hate when I have a long bridge climbing and my stick gets caught up in it. Does it happen all the time? No but is it more avoidable for me with a short bridge? Yes. So in theory you’re correct a bridge is a bridge and they all serve the sane purpose. It’s not a matter of the product this time but a matter of comfort and preferenceA bridge is a bridge. I don’t adjust mine. Same bridge and length to climb and hunt. Material doesn’t matter much to me either.
Care to share a pic of this setup? You can water knot one end of your webbing bridge and use a frame release D Ring (https://austrialpin.net/product/ansi-cobraframe-release-d-ring/) on the other end for an adjustable webbing bridge. Rated to 18 kN and easy to adjust.
