I'm just wondering what is the current adjustable bridge for one sticking ,and what is it made of.
Some oplux for bridge & 6mm sterling for hitch will do fine.
Everyone’s opinion differs. My buddy had the same mind set as you yet I climb and rappel with a short bridge. I hate when I have a long bridge climbing and my stick gets caught up in it. Does it happen all the time? No but is it more avoidable for me with a short bridge? Yes. So in theory you’re correct a bridge is a bridge and they all serve the sane purpose. It’s not a matter of the product this time but a matter of comfort and preferenceA bridge is a bridge. I don’t adjust mine. Same bridge and length to climb and hunt. Material doesn’t matter much to me either.

You can water knot one end of your webbing bridge and use a frame release D Ring (https://austrialpin.net/product/ansi-cobraframe-release-d-ring/) on the other end for an adjustable webbing bridge. Rated to 18 kN and easy to adjust.
An update on this setup. I have used it for a dozen sits and had it slip on me one time. I was only a foot off the ground but it was disconcerting. The webbing can get folded where it feeds into the release slot causing the retention bar to be out of alignment with the frame. This happens when there is no load on the system and went unnoticed by me on this occasion. This can allow the buckle to slip under load. The sewn over double end stopped the webbing from sliding out so I was able to flatten the webbing and tighten up the bridge. This could have been a serious issue at height without a sewn end. I have replaced this setup with Predator rope bridge and prusik adjuster. You have to take pressure off to adjust. It will not slip under load.
Thanks for following through on this and pointing out some of the safety concerns. This is the way it should happen if you determine a mod you have made becomes unsafe or even potentially unsafe. An update on this setup. I'm looking at doing exactly this. Hemming and hawing on which ropes I want, had been looking at Ultra-Tech but now HTP, and Beal Cordelette. I want a 2-bridge setup. One adjusts on the left, one on the right, so I can't confuse them.I used 4'of oplux and 6' put side of TRC. I tied a Michoacan to my bridge to a prusik on the bridge loop closed with a hunters bend.View attachment 56785
