I went and did some scouting this afternoon, and had issues with the GPS on my phone/OnX putting the waypoints I was trying to add hundreds of yards away from the area I was actually in. My location was showing correctly in the app. I was able to get some of them to correct and mark the correct location but many of them I couldn't get to zero in on where I was. I had decent cell reception, not great, and the app is updated.

Have any of you had similar issues? I know that the GPS on the phones is not perfect, but some of these were WAY off.

Are you using the "mark my location" feature or "add waypoint" feature? Also in areas of sketchy cell phone service, I download the maps at home and have them ready to go when I get to my scouting location. If you're in a car, it takes a minute sometimes for your GPS location to get caught up too.

I was using the add waypoint feature, I have the main piece of the WMA downloaded but made a last minute decision to go look at a little out of the way portion of it. I had a few bars of signal though.

This happened to me last week. Luckily, I could identify the actual locations I wanted to save back home on the laptop. I used the Add Waypoint button. It's a pain. Honestly, the free version of Huntstand is better than OnX.

The "add waypoint" is used for more virtual scouting I believe and will place the waypoint in a random location on the map. If you notice, you can move the map around and the waypoint stays put with the "add waypoint" setting before you've saved it. If you're zoomed in really close you'll be pretty damn close but if you're zoomed out a little you'll be a few hundred yards off. The "mark my location" is used to mark your current location with location services on.

I've also noticed when I'm in the edit portion of the way point that if I touch the map at all my way point moves, then I have to either guess where it originally was or discard and do all my editing over again.

Listen to him ^^^^ , ONX is awesome but there is a few tricks, it has been a game changer for me in the big woods.
