OnX screwed up????

Today I double tapped for my heading direction and it just kept spinning in a circle and wouldn’t stop till I closed out the app and reloaded it. Never seen that happen before. :anguished:

It didn't act this way when I first subscribed 2 years ago.

I can understand GPS being inaccurate on phones, but why does the location dot float all around when the phone is stationary for minutes at a time?

I'm not feeling the love for OnX.

Your phone is on the moving earth even when your stationary communicating w/satellites in orbit, nothing is truly stationary. I find onX to be a great tool but like all great tools they have their flaws.... One thing I’ve found helpful when hunting in the mountains & constantly moving is download a big chunk of map & just use onX in offline mode. Huge saver on battery & more than sufficient for positioning.

I've had the issue with Uber as well. I chalk it up to what others have said, the phones themselves, not necessarily the app.

Thought of this thread today when Waze (Android) in my car kept losing track of my location while navigating to a destination.

I recently turned from "optimized" mode to "medium power saving" mode. Thought I'd switched back when I recharged but the phone was still closing apps and disabling location services when my screen turned off- even though it was plugged in and still showing a map on my car display.

I went back into power settings, switched back to "optimized"mode and accuracy and location updates came right back.

OnX kinda sucks. It’s just that they were first in the game and people, me included have so many waypoints already invested that it makes it hard to switch.

Im just getting started with Onx. I guess Ive drank the koolaid I like it. What should I watch out for? Im starting to get a lot of way points and It does suck you cant transfer them so you have them even with out an active membership..What do you consider a better option?

I just get frustrated with the speed and blurry maps more than anything. Which I think both have improved recently.
