Has anyone tried this? I am thinking about it but also trying to decide on pros and cons? I wonder if you could use the same Amstel prusik on the one side and then use a scaffold knot or tight eye with a carabiner on the other, thus making a bridge that wouldn't have to be stepped through. Any experience with or thoughts on this?

Never tried it and don’t really see the benefit unless you feel it’s a safety thing. Do you not like the amsteel? I personally don’t care for amsteel bridges and definitely don’t like making a prusik out of the stuff.

I use carabiners on one end of my 2 bridges. I have forgotten they were in place once when I urinated and I got 2 wet bridges. My jacket blocked my vision. Now, I unclip them after I climb down and fasten to the same side to get them out of the landing zone. :mask: I suppose if I had a very long adjustable bridge I could just put it over my head but I have two fixed 24 inch bridges.

Pro tip: Sling the saddle over your shoulder to put it on I don’t like stepping through either or laying my saddle in the mud to put it on.

I like that idea and will try it. I’m still curious if anyone has tried an Oplux bridge on the phantom and how they did it.

or a longer adjustable tallywacker to hang past the hanging bridges!

Im going to set one up this winter like the Method. DIY Sportsman and below are good for reference just use appropriate ropes/ accessories for oplux.
( im really torn on upgrade saddles at the moment)
I'll have Art inspect it and send you pics by text.

Does anyone know what size the amsteel prusiks are on the method and any others that use an Oplux bridge?

Bringing this back up. Did anyone try this successfully? I’ve ordered some oplux to give this a try. Pictures would be greatly appreciated. @TreeCreep

I did and really liked it. Here are some pics of how I ended up. I used a Beal Jammy and it worked quite well. I’m sure you could do the same with tied (or sewn) TRC or spliced Amsteel, although I am less a fan of using the latter as a prusik.

My process was tying a scaffold to a carabiner for the left side and then girth hitching the Jammy onto the right bridge loop and then tying it into the Oplux from there. Of course a stopper on the tag end of the Oplux is a good idea as well. For length, I should’ve written it down, but I went the length of the phantom bridge and then about 4 inches but that was probably too long in the end.

THANK YOU!!! That's exactly what I needed. I'm going to give this a copy...if you don't mind? I'm a fan of the detachable rope bridge. With this method, I can remove and "take with me" if I decide to get a new saddle. Again, Thank you for the pictures!!!!

Have fun and be safe

Of course buddy. I certainly didn’t come up with the idea and am a great copier myself! Tying the sewn prusik can be a little mind boggling sometimes but this video always helps me at 14:26 or so:

I havent tried it yet. I actually was surprised that I liked the stock Recon bridge.

I have a few ideas yet to try out.
There is a really good pic / post similar to above that I plan to copy.
