Oplux / rescue tech | Custom length 7mm vt prusik from Bluewater ropes.

I should have clarified. this is a custom run of 24" 7mm VT prusik cords manufactured by Bluewater Ropes. The normal ones are 33" I believe. I have a couple dozen of these. I had to sell my 8 year old daughter to get them to produce these, not joking (ok not really but wasn't easy either). PM me for details.

Duh !
I saw the picture and read the enclosed letter- saw 33" and didn't catch on 'till just now... These are the "custom" ones right?
I just bought waayyy too much stuff this week. If I ain't broke next week will there be any of these still available?

Just hooked up the 11.4mm Samson Predator LB with a 7mm 19" continous loop prusik there is about 6" prusik loop above carabiner. This works, with 4 wraps on the prusik. It seems tight when breaking free (3 wraps make it easier. I can't imaging putting a 24" - 28" prusik on this. I think this works for the LB. I suppose, I will not be placing a great deal of tension on the LB. I'm new to this, but I suspect the LB provides stability more so than "FULL weight bearing" for an extended period. For the tether I think I will move up to an 8mm friction hitch; hopefully it breaks free easier after being fully weighted and swung around in. Again I am new to this, so...learn through hard knows...even with all the experienced advice available. :fearscream:
Some of us just have to try it our way...regardless. In any case thanks for all the advice.

Just got mine, and like it already.

Anyone know where you can also buy this by the foot/without sewn eyes? I might buy some to mess around with other hitches with.

Thanks if anyone has a source.

I can check with my contact at BW to see if they would sell a bulk roll of it, but in my dealings with them to date would indicate that it is unlikely, or arduous at best.

I know REI sells bulk climb rated rope 8mm and up. I was told that their 7mm might also be climb rated because the sell the set lengths...but I did not ask then to verify.

That's okay. I would've only wanted 10 feet at most. I was hoping to find a retailer where you could pick short lengths.

Here is BealJammy, custon VT (24 inches I think) and the regular 33 inch VT on 8mm Oplux.
Think the 24 will be perfect, will put them uder weight and see how they lock up and move under weight.
Will try the Michoacan also.

I got to play with mine today. While it's a little longer than I prefer, it worked well with a 5-wrap Michoacan. The extra wrap took up most of the extra length, and it still released easily.

That's the beauty of this cord, the way it flattens out and bites under tension, then springs back to round and releases when untensioned makes it an easy friction hitch cord to work with.

I've tied the Michoacan and had it slip on me.
I'm glad I was only testing it out...

I've not had that problem. Try one more wrap and make sure you're tying it correctly. (Or just use one of the many other friction hitches out there.)

I've noticed with the Michoacan that you need to grab both legs and really pull to get it tight at first, or it slips badly when first installed.

I have settled on the Swabisch.

I said I like the Swabisch but, on my Oplux tether I've got a prusik.
I just got an 11 inch 6mm continuous loop made by Sterling that grabs super tight.
The only way I know how to tie a hitch with a continuous loop is to make a prusik.

Google "Klemheist", it's rather a continuous loop form of the Swabisch.

I used 8mm GM Eye-Eye Swabisch on my Predator Rope 11.4mm; I really had to set the swabisch before it would grip. Almost like I had to put tension on it before the hitch would actually perform. Did you experience this? Breaking free seemed easy with the tender I put on. I won't know for sure until I actually give it full test sometime this week.

I haven't had the Swabisch slip but that Klemheist that I learned yesterday did.

It really seems like we have to mix and match all of our ropes and hitch cords...
I just started this $h!t a month ago and I'm playing around with what works good for me.
