Oplux / rescue tech | Custom length 7mm vt prusik from Bluewater ropes.

I haven't had the Swabisch slip but that Klemheist that I learned yesterday did.

It really seems like we have to mix and match all of our ropes and hitch cords...
I just started this $h!t a month ago and I'm playing around with what works good for me.

If you just started, are you aware that you can add an extra wrap to a hitch usually to make it hold better?

I add an extra wrap (compared to standard instructions) to my distel hitch. You can make any hitch hold, but with some rope/hitch combos if you add enough wraps to hold then it doesn't break free when you tend it.

Yep, I'm fine tuning things right now..
I'll probably never quit tinkering... lol

Sometimes adding a wrap is too much friction, instead try rotating one of the eyes 180 degrees, then the other if that isn’t enough, sometimes helps for more reliable grabbing.

Same here. New to the saddle and just getting the gear together. I'm thinking this is going to be fun after the learning curb (curve) typo :fearscream: . I have definitely learned a lot since discovering this "hunting style?". What platform did you pick? I am waiting "Still Waiting" for the EDP from Trophy Line. Safe Hunting

I ain't sure which one of us that was directed to but I got a Ridge Runner and I LOVE it.

I acquired a ROS too but I'm not too excited about them yet. An upgrade may be in order... lol

What I did play with yesterday and the day before was adding steps to the strap of the Ridge Runner.
That works GREAT.

Just got mine, and like it already.

Anyone know where you can also buy this by the foot/without sewn eyes? I might buy some to mess around with other hitches with.

Thanks if anyone has a source.
Not the BW, but there are some that are similar that can be bought by the foot. From left to right: Rescue Tech’s 6mm Probe, the 7mm BW, RT’s 8mm Probe, with a couple reflective strands, 8mm and 9mm Samson’s Bailout, just the core on both. The cores are spliceable, the Probes might be with a solid braid splice. The 8mm core puffs up and looks bigger than when it’s weighted.

Sterling’s RIT 900, 6.8mm, is an aramid single braid that grabs well on Oplux without needing extra wraps. It is very similar the the Bailout core, but is made from Twaron instead of Technora. The only difference I could tell between the two is the color and the Twaron has finer fibers that don’t stick together as well. Had to be extra careful when splicing not to snag, and separating the strands was difficult. It stays flexible enough when spliced to make as short as possible, this one is 17 3/4” long.

Arbsession.com will do custom sewing, piecework, as well. They also test it. I currently am having Edelrid 6mm Aramid and Beal 5.5mm Kevlar sewn up and tested! I've really liked both of their materials on Oplux so far. However, I'm having sling/loop style prussics sewn for my purposes...

Interesting, I wonder what would be the difference in length of the sewn areas between loops and eyes?

Finally had a chance to play out back with the TX5, 8mm Oplux and 24 inch eye to eye VT.
Maybe I tied it improperly, but I could not get the Michoacan to not slip under full body weight, and I am barely 155 pounds these days.
Distel a little better and the Scwab the best of the three. Not the results I was expecting. Need to play a lot more with them.

The Distel has been working fine for me. If you have problems with that, there is enough length in that eye-to-eye to add an extra wrap on 8mm rope.

Michoacán seems to be the hardest to make grab, might be that the part of the hitch below the wraps squeezes first, and doesn’t let the wraps bite until later, if at all. Maybe this and the Technora on Technora, and there is only a one millimeter difference in diameter between the two that probably adds to the problem
