Order of purchases?

I’m wanting to start saddle hunting but can’t afford to buy everything all at once like most people. Is there any particular order in which I should try to purchase my gear? I will say, I did purchase some hawk heliums on sale a couple weeks ago. So I have my climbing method knocked out I guess. Thanks for any help in advance.

Sticks all you have?

I’d get ropes and a sit drag/RCH if money tight or go for a used saddle or new trophyline for quickest saddle access.

Stand on your sticks and branches until you can get a platform or ROS.

I switched from a Summit Viper over to saddle hunting this season. My budget is tight so I stayed my existing Hunter Safety Systems harness for now as my fall arrest system and paired that with a sitdrag style seat made by our own Mike Isbell (I think they run around $50 or so). I’m using the HSS rope-style safety rope for my tether and I cut down a Muddy Life-Line I had to make my lineman’s belt.

For the first hunt I stood on the top step of the highest Helium stick and used a couple of screw in steps- to move some. I have since then picked up a barely used set of the Silent Approach Ring of Steps here for a platform and I’m very happy with it. This system will serve me quite well until the fund allow me to upgrade to an actual saddle.

You can certainly ease into this and get the full benefit without the huge cash outlay.

Best of luck to you and happy hunting.
