Well after climbing back to the top of the ridge I hunt with my hang and hunt I made my orders today. Today I ordered a Tethrd Phantom package, a Cruzr XC package and the Tethrd XL platform, I have size 13 feet. Now I do not plan on keeping both saddles, but wanted to try them on for fit. The Cruzr sizing is the questionable one. I wear size 36” jeans so I ordered the size 2.

And this is also my first post.

Looks like the cruzr saddle will be here first. That is getting delivered Tuesday. Hopefully the platform gets shipped this week also. Hoping to get my first saddle sit next Sunday.

So I now have both saddles. The Cruzr is definitely more comfortable. The Phantom is very minimalist. So now it is a tough decision. My hike in to both of my preferred hunting spots is 1.5 miles. The Phantom is comfortable, but I felt I need to adjust constantly to keep it in the sweet spot. The Cruzr feels like I am wearing a diaper while walking around, but so comfortable in the tree.

Now all of this is just walking around the backyard. I guess if worse came to worse I could always carry the saddle in my pack on the walk in.

That should be an easy decision. You are way more likely to be sitting still in the Cruzr when a deer sneaks in on you. The walking in part is just an inconvenience that can also be overcome as you mentioned by packing it in.

I put my hawk helium steps and tethrd xl platform together today. They fit tight. The I used a set of backpack straps I have from a Kelty Elkhorn danny pack. They mount great. 47511B7B-B8B0-41F2-B0C4-C0550947084E.jpeg

And I will be sticking with the Cruzr XC saddle.

Next Saturday will be my first adventure way deep into the woods for my first saddle hunt.

So I now have a few woods set up. This one is built off of a Mystery Ranch Pop Up 28.

This set up is 21 lbs, with no gear, water or food.

I love my MR pop up 28. It does add a bit of actual weight but the way it distributes and carries the total weight lowers the perceived weight of your system. I’ve hiked like 5 miles with my set up and it feels great.
