Ordered a Dryad Drey Yesterday!

How is everyone liking the drey so far? I still can’t find any pictures or video of it yet and I figured there would be more popping up by now.
Jury is still out for me. It has nothing to do with the saddle itself, that thing is comfortable. I bought just the retrofit kit to pair with my rch, but my particular rch is an absolute pain to one stick climb with. I’ve also paired it with my cruzr xc but it’s just not quite as comfortable using it in that application in my opinion.

If you have a minimalist type saddle such as a recon/method/sit drag or just a comfortable rch, and paired the Drey with it, I think you’d be hard pressed to find something more comfortable.

The Drey pairs most excellently with my Tengu saddle. The padded legs and back is a bonus when used in combination with the Drey.

I have been super busy lately haven't had time to put it through its paces yet. Only sat in it once so far. It definitely has some things going for it. As far as wind noise I don't think it will be bad at all the fabric is under tension so it shouldn't flap. When I get some time I will figure out a system that works for me with it. For long sits I don't see anything else more comfortable but a jx3. Paired with my method xl super compact lightweight system. Way less then the jx3. It is kinda a different feeling when you spin and fabric supports your chest very secure feeling.

I saw that he offered linesman loops which is a big upgrade, so using sticks should be easier. My bigger concern is wind noise at height. Where I live it’s pretty common to have 15-20 mph winds, I have never in my entire life heard a hammock material that is silent in real winds. Some even sound like sails on a sail boat. So I agree with you 100%, I want to see some reviews (personally see them showing it used at height in windy conditions). In theory this would have to be the most comfortable option ever. In practice I need more than someone just telling me it’s great. I am more of a visual learner. I really do hope that it’s very successful though. It’s nice to see some innovative commercial ideas (even if it’s not a new idea in theory)

The wind will not bother it. When you sit in it every part of the hammock is tight to you. Even if you push it down under your butt it is tight. The wind cannot grab it. Mine has the lineman‘s loops sewn into it so it makes climbing and installing sticks easy. Also you can add pouches because it has Molly loops sewn across the top.

Cool thanks. I still want to see it/hear it on a windy day

Is the hammock bag able to slide back and forth over those new LB loops or do you have to leave it behind them due to them blocking it?

Has anyone DIY'd one yet? I might need help from the hammock makers and the saddle makers for this build.

@Bigterp did you also pick up a Transformer? I was gonna order one, bit this really has me thinking. Just curious how it compares to it if anyone has compared the two.

Yes I have both. I haven’t done any onesticking in the drey. I know @colic mentioned his buddy did. The transformer is
born to onestick! That’s not saying you couldn’t with the drey, I’m just wondering if the hammock portion deployed plus the center attachment would be tougher to work around. It’s been hot & humid, I haven’t been doing much in the way of test runs. But plan to before the meetup next month so hope to have more real world experience with it between climbing methods.

Talk about addressing a potential issue quickly. That’s pretty awesome. And it looks like the hammock bag can still slide to your side also.
I was super impressed with how quickly Dane came up with a fix for the single point connection. I wasn’t a huge fan if it and had made my own Jerry rigged double linesman’s loop set up but he was more than happy to take care of me and hook me up with a double loop version and man is it awesome!

This is all great discussion on such a different approach to the conventional saddle. I’m happy to report that I ordered one yesterday so I could experience this thread in person! I’m excited to try it out. Thank you all.

Does anyone have any experience 1-sticking with the drey? I would love to give it a try, but can not picture 1-sticking with one would be comfortable.

There seems to be two or three different threads on this saddle now and I think the other thread has some gentlemen in it that are one sticking with it.

One sticking with the hammock deployed shouldn’t be any problem. I’ve on sticked with a fleece saddle and it was great, the only downside was that the fleece wasn’t connected to my harness so if didn’t tend slack well it would slide off my butt. Since the drey is attached to the harness I don’t think this would be a problem.0
