Ordered a Dryad Drey Yesterday!

Anyone get theirs yet or have any pictures of them in it? I still haven’t seen much info on this saddle.
If you want a great overview check out Spencer Valerie’s video on YouTube. Just search Dryad Drey… I know saddlehntr has a video coming too!

I love Spencer’s stuff but he didn’t go up to height and let me hear it on a windy day.

Seen it. But it’s the only video out there. Or photos too. Usually a saddle drops and it’s on ten you tube videos, four pod casts and has five threads on it here.
I hear you man! I know some guys that are planning on it but are backed up with so many other reviews to do… if you have IG of FB hit me up I can send you more pics… Tkohuntscny_mi for IG and Tkohunts Cny on FB

It doesn’t make any noise in the wind. The material stays tight and is super light and quiet.
My hammock stays tight when I lay in it on my dock. The wind starts whipping 15-20 mph it still makes noise. You say it makes none, climb to 20’ on an obviously windy day and record it for us with no background music. Thanks

I say that because I’d gladly attach it to my saddle and use it for comfort but first I need to see it’s not noisy. I hear you say it’s tight so it doesn’t make noise, but that’s not my experience. Even when dryad set it up on the video it was making noise. Again I love the idea of it. But I can’t fathom dropping that much money for a hammock unless I have proof it won’t make lots of noise. Where I hunt it’s coastal and it’s usually pretty windy

Just for thought. If the wind is blowing 20mph, everything in the woods is making noise.. Even if the fabric moves a little, is it louder than the tree leaves, or grass? Just comparing.. Go up in the tree and have someone on the ground. If you hear it over everything else moving.

I mean with that logic bows and guns make noise on windy days but deer don’t spook from tree they spook from a bow. Hammocks don’t mock tree branches blowing- just for thought

True. Different sounds. Is it loose and flapping? Or just rubbing.. I guess ever deer would respond to the noise differently. If they have associated it with danger, they run. If they get curious, it might bring them in. Distance to which it travels will vary depending on vegetation, trees, and so forth.
I would like to hear the results as well.

I am still tinkering with mine. I have not yet one sticked with it but Dane recently hooked me up with some solid upgrades so I need to try it out soon.

LB loops added:

Belay loop sewn in so I never have to find it and put it in place for leg straps:

Hammock bridge is now girth hitched on left side and my right side has a full bury Prussik. Makes adjustment easier and only one sided.

Almost looks like your sitting in a JX3.....

I camp in hammocks and I love the concept/design Dryad has. I think it’s remarkable. I worry as much about higher pitched noises (like fabric whipping or rubbing) than I do about scent control. Deer and especially hogs in my area are smart. They recognize noises that don’t belong. Noises that aren’t typical even walking patterns. I can be walking and a bunch of armadillos be out, sneak up within 50 yards of a deer with the wind direction favoring me and they will lift that head twitch them ears and run off just with the difference from me walking and the armadillos walking. It’s noise. I believe you can stay still and use camo to trick their eyes. I think if you use scent control and play the wind you can even trick their noses but if that fabric makes noise, deer won’t be within 30 yards of me to get my shot. If the noise thing can be disproved for me, Dryad might be gaining a new customer in me at least as the retro fit kit to attach to the back of my saddle.

I have a Hennessy hammock. It’s the first thing I thought of when I saw the drey. The Hennessy hammock material is NOTHING like the drey. It is way noisier than the drey. If you take your fingernails and scratch the molle webbing of the saddle you have right now, it is orders of magnitude louder than the drey material. I have no idea where Dane found this stuff but it’s unreal. Scratching your nails on it sounds like the slightest wisp of wind. Not unnatural at all. It’s also crazy how lightweight it is.

This is all I have to go by. I realize it’s excessive movement in the video but every time he moves slides, anything, I can hear that material over him talking listen from 1:19 mark until 2:25. Sorry man that’s a little louder than a wisp of wind. On the bright side, here’s some publicity for anyone that hasn’t heard about the drey, y’all check it out and get some videos in it posted for those of us who might be a little gun shy

You can find that material at rip stop by the roll ;)

I don’t know, I have watched that video too. I think Dane must have the worlds hottest mic strapped somewhere to his crotch.

That video is not characteristic of what the material sounds like if you were standing where the camera is. Even the buckle sounds ridiculously loud in the video.

I mean those d ring buckles cling and clang a lot when you shake them. Based on your comment, I’m curious, are you the camera man for his videos? I ask because they are incredibly well made and if you’re the one shooting them, you need some “major that a boys” because his videos are first class!

Lol dude he is mic’d up. I am all for hearing how it sounds in the wind but you gotta understand the difference in being mic’d up. It amplifies the sounds around it lol
