Ordered a Dryad Drey Yesterday!

I love the drey saddle, but for me it’s just too busy to one-stick in. I use my linesman belt and it can be a little tricky with the hammock covering the LB loops. But once you are at height it’s almost worth the trouble of dealing with everything on the way up because it’s so comfortable. If you climb with sticks this saddle is a no brainer, at least in the early season. I am pretty certain if you want to use this saddle at all when the temp starts dropping you will need to invest in the underquilt.

@_Dario is spot on, in my opinion. The Drey will require some “shuffling” of your normal routine, but if you want to be in Total comfort and not Figit around………it’s worth the learning curve…….One Stick
Sticks…….”no brainer ”!!!

I’m betting Dane will come out with comfy, climbing rated Leg Loops in his next offering. Something that accommodates climbing one stick!

Have fun and be safe!

I just threw a quick sped-up one sticking video with the drey so you can get a visual idea.

some specific issues I had:
-really kind of a pain to deal with bridge adjustments (remember there are two).
-the two paracord prussiks for the reclining functionality also got mixed up in my biner and one was pulled to my far left and got a bit tangled up. It wasn't great having to fix that one handed.
-the LB loops become kind of ‘hidden’ when the hammock is deployed. Also at height, it’s hard to daisy chain your LB and store it away. It may be better here to connect your LB via biner on both ends to stow away into your pack at height.
-Dane was kind enough to sew some molle loops on the back of my hammock so I was able to attach my ROS/platform for the climb. I am not sure if this is a standard feature now.
-I kept my rappel rope in a tall EWO dump pouch worn like a man purse which was actually fine for me. Just noting it here that you won’t be able to keep it in a roll pouch, etc.

Once at height this saddle is hard to beat comfort wise - coming down was a breeze as well. I am sure with practice this would become more manageable but for one sticking I will stick to a single/double panel for now.

I am going to try again with the saddle not deployed and using a sit drag to see if that helps any.

Again my main concern will be colder temps so my eyes are peeled for the release of that underquilt. I may even try to DIY one with an ENO down underquilt I already have for hammock camping.

I don’t particularly care of attaching pouches to it but I’ve never been a big fan of pouches on my saddle anyway. That’s my only real negative.

Earlier in the thread I joked I had never considered opening the hammock to climb with it. I wasn’t kidding - Until someone mentioned it I didn’t even know it was an option lol. It’s not too uncomfortable to just use the harness portion. It’s essentially a rock climbing harness and people have been doing that since the first one stick video got posted on YouTube years ago. The climb takes all of a couple minutes to make 3-4 stick moves so I don’t particularly care how I feel during that time frame.

I’d really hate to picture taking a fall into that waist belt - that’s my main concern there. Of course the LB reduces that risk. It’s unlike a RCH in that you are only attached to the waist and not the waist AND rated leg loops.

I ordered mine with load bearing leg straps. Dane may do wider padded led straps as a option.

Fiiiiiine....i finally caved and purchased one. I'll probably be sleeping in it at night after my wife finds out....but will be worth the risk. Hope it does well for an allnighter....lol

What’s turnaround time for the full kit, gents?

I finally got to sit in one while hanging out with Dane the other day. Super comfortable. I threw some ideas at him that might help with a lot of the issues I’ve seen talked about if he can figure out how to incorporate them. A lot of things that he has already been working on he said. He seemed like a tinkerer to me so I bet he won’t stop til he has it all working flawlessly.

I received my belt with lineman loops. Also got the load bearing leg straps. The buckles are rated at 4,000 Lbs. along with the tubular webbing.
Turned out better then I expected.
Dane does quality work.
I will get a chance to try it out this weekend.Dryad-1.jpg

That’s awesome man! Dane doesn’t mess around!

How are yall carrying sticks up? I just have a gear tie on each side and wrap it around the top step. I did have one slip off this morning so started running the tie through the gap in the top step of the beast stick. Also attached a small s-clip to the back and hang my platform from it.

Just ordered mine. First saddle. We are gonna need to make a new site called hammock hunting lol.
Won’t work. It will just be a group of dudes with the same saddle not talking about hip pinch or a lightweight set up or back problems or which saddle pouches work best. Threads would include “how good was your nap today” or “is it okay to feel warm and cozy while hunting?”

Well yep. I’ve been known to nap in trees. Hopefully soon I won’t jolt awake.

I’m either going to use the loop d loops with gear ties or the MOLLE with genesis 3d printing versa hangers. Either one works I just need to see which one I like best as the season progresses

I’m gonna go with bull man or wild edge steps. No platform just an ros since the hammock should have a lot of support. At least that’s the plan.
