Our Own Public Land Challenge!!!

Haha, let’s all throw in on a flight for @Nutterbuster haha.

I’ll start a new thread in a bit to start planning but I think we’re gonna go with Mass and mid to late oct.

I’ll look for camp sites and figure out costs etc but open to suggestions of which is the best location to set up camp.

this is gonna be awesome. Zach Ferenbaugh, Infalt and Joe Rentmeester if y’all are out there lurking and want to join us I will pay for your campsite and provide you backstrap under the condition that you autograph my bow :)
Brett I will autograph your bow I’m a legend in my own mind. LOL

I've been north of the border, but 20 hours is a haul. I don't have my papers to fly either.

I think it'd be cool to do regional stuff. Sounds like we have the yankeetown region going. I'll volunteer to organize the gulf coast/deep south/southeastern one if we can get 4 or 5 folks to commit. I know @swampsnyper and @gcr0003 and I had a good hunt last year. 5 hour drive for me was manageable.

I think 4-6 regional hunts with standardized rules could be a fun extra layer on top of the contest.
I'm in for the south

Starting to sound like north vs south LOL
You southerners got a edge more deer density but we got bigger deer LOL

I'm in for the south
@CooterBrown and @Nutterbuster down for a public land hunting challenge. Probably gonna be Alabama since that's where we're both from (i think). I don't care where in Alabama it happens. If north pulls in some Tennessee/Kentucky/ Arkansas/Carolinas guys I'm good with that. If south pulls some floridians I'm good with that.

Step right up! Don't be shy! Everyone's a winner! Prizes galore!

I hunt lots of public in NH and plan to try MA this year. I'd be interested in connecting with some fellow saddle hunters.

I wish I was a headlight on a north-bound train
Come to MD. Hit a morning duck hunt afternoon deer hunt and a dead show at night. Dead Duck Deer Tour 2021

Eastern MD nestled right in the middle... best of both worlds

Following. I’m in north east MA on the NH border. I can share some info on some large public spots, not positive on the ability to camp there though

I guess Virginia is technically a southern state. As well as North Carolina.

Technically
Agreed! Being from the actual south and having lived in Virginia for 18 years, technically Virginia is a southern state but not in reality.

I'm out this year due to my own wedding and others during the season, but I'd totally be down for one next year.

This is a damn cool idea!

parts of VA definitely feel like the South. Parts of GA feel like NYC...all depends

I lived in northern Virginia for awhile and then moved to southwest Virginia before moving to Alabama. Northern Virginia is like night and day compared to Southwest Virginia. The "south" in southwest Virginia says it all.

Agreed that this would be fun. Vermonter here and I might be able to join. I've done a little upstate NY hunting and one season in NH. If memory serves NH archery opens first in mid September, followed by NY, then VT Oct 1.

If I had a vote it'd be for one of the September weekends as once Oct hits I'll be hitting my VT public land honey holes hoping 10 out of staters don't show up to spoil it.

I don't know much about MA but willing to drive if @kyler1945 is making an appearance. And if we get @Nutterbuster north of the Mason Dixon line I'd probably drive just about anywhere, especially if @Vtbow goes and splits the gas bill.
Wish I could--unfortunately count me out....life is too crazy for me to travel, and we are on a family vacation the opening weekend of bow here(I know, ouch, but covid didn't leave many options for booking places to stay). It's also my 10th anniversary this September, so I want to be around for that and am not sure when/if we'll even do anything....

Because we couldnt do much last summer, we have booked pretty much every weekend through summer and fall either with camping trips, make-up birthday parties, or with family stuff. I'm not going to to lie, I"m glad to be able to gather again, I"ll have plenty of hunting seasons to come when the kids wont want anything to do with me....

I been looking for a way to make myself do an out of state hunt for a while now, this might could be it if the schedules align. Southeast.

My wife would kill me if I took on this challenge this year with the little baby at home....if it's a annual thing I'll drive to bamer to come get drunk....I mean go hunting for a week....next year

Very true. Eastern VA is different than the western side

This. I do however live in Eastern Va, and its pretty "southy" here. Just gets ehh when you get towards the beach. I would be down to do something around here, I will have the whole season for the first time in 3 years.
