Out of state hunts 2019

Well, being a new Kentucky resident, it is sort of like an out of state for me, so I got that going. However, after spending the last two years scouting down some seriously large bucks and their beds in Michigan... thinking hard about heading back for a week in late October and trying for one of them.

Drew a tag and Headed to Kansas November 9-16. All Public land and staying with a couple of buddies. One of them lives there and we'll be staying at his cabin. I went 5 years ago and had a blast! The bucks I hunt here in Virginia don't act like those Kansas bucks. Those Kansans actually respond to calling. Preparing for this trip is actually one of the reasons I started looking at getting a saddle. If you've ever been to Kansas you know it's real hard to find a straight tree to use a climber in. I can't wait!

Colorado mid sept. and Ohio. Unfortunately i did not draw my Kansas tag this year but i got a point for next year! I also started putting in for Iowa this year so wish me luck in about 2 more years.

Just wrapped up a DIY public ground antelope hunt in Wyoming ...my brother and I each shot a pope and young buck from the same blind in the first 4 hours of the hunt...

Headed to Kansas with my brother and few buddies in November

Possibly hunt the Kentucky opener if I’m not on the road working that week

That's a cool hunt. I'm hunting elk on the Idaho/Mt border.

Where in Montana will you be (general area)? I used to live in the Bitterroot valley, hunted elk in a bunch of places up and down the border. I had a lot of great experiences and bow killed my share, let us know how you do.

I’m in western KY so TN, MO and IL are all under an hours drive for me. Never hunted out of state but am looking to start this year so I’m planning on one of those 3. Any and all suggestions would be welcome for the guys that have done it?

Also, it seems like a lot of people are coming to KY to hunt! Makes me grateful to have such great hunting right under my nose

Nebraska Sand Hills Opener September 1st.
Michigan Gun at Thanksgiving
Possible Kentucky in late season
Home is NW Ohio farm country

Although technically out of state, I don't consider Oklahoma to be an "out of state hunt" since it is only an hour away.

I'm doing something the week before Thanksgiving. With making babies it's been 3 years since I've hunted out of state. Prior to that with a few long elk trips, it's been about 5 since I left PA for whitetails.

I'm torn on two choices. Option 1 is returning to some old stomping grounds in WV for a bow/rifle combo. I've had past success and scouted this winter. Know the area pretty well. Fun hunt, lots of deer if not huge bucks which is just fine by me. I could join my brother in OH also. I am scorned in OH. I've hunted Ohio 4 times I think and every trip some fiasco occurs. I think I am better just staying out of Ohio.

Other choice is heading up to the Adirondacks for a real adventure hunt. May be lower odds but I'm drawn to that stuff. Personally I am feeling the Adks but had made hazy plans to meet some of my people for WV. Adks would be flying solo. Definitely something to be said about sharing camp with other people, the older I get the less I feel like being a lone wolf. We'll see.

Well messed up, last year when I was mule deer hunting in Idaho they still had non resident tags for sale. This year not the case, went to buy my tag last night and they have been sold out for acouple days now so no Idaho this year. Will be buying my tag next year as soon as they go on sale.

Mass my home town- believe it or not I haven‘t hunted mass in 15 years. Ill be out there this year. Weird cuz I hunt alot out of state. In state I alway feel guilty with work and fam. But i bust out weeks out of state...strange I know.
Ohio is big lately hunting last week of October and late season muzzleloader (i have hunted late season muzzleloader for 10 years) after the holidays when the fam is sick of me.
Maine I have hunted since I was 18. I hunt every year. Now with my 16yo son. We leave after thanks giving dinner and he goes home Sunday. All I have with him due to school and football.
So three states 15- 20 full days in field.
