Out of state hunts 2019

Plans just changed, for the better. Turns out the weekend between bear season here and our whitetail opener is the Ohio bow opener (September 28-29). I was already planning on hunting Ohio October 9th-13th, and my brother invited me to hunt a private piece with him for the opener.

Quick blessing from the wife and a good deal on a flight and I'm headed home to hunt the Ohio bow opener!

Campground in the park

I made a loop through there last year and it was packed to the gills. I had never seen that many people in the campground. I bet its a good atmosphere though, like a huge deer camp. We have been friends with Richard for years and its convenient for us to stay with him.

Ya it's fun we've got to know few guys in camp.. but yes gets busier every year seems like

Indiana and possibly Ohio are my out of state trips on the books for this year.

I finally finished my cabin in VA so I am planning a couple of weekend hunts down there. My wife's uncle has a farm I plan on hunting and I started a new job this summer that opens up thousands of acres for me to hunt, several hundred of which happen to be near my place in VA also.

Just wrapped up a DIY public ground antelope hunt in Wyoming ...my brother and I each shot a pope and young buck from the same blind in the first 4 hours of the hunt...

Headed to Kansas with my brother and few buddies in November

Possibly hunt the Kentucky opener if I’m not on the road working that week
This is a bucket list hunt for me. Building up points for it

I'm about to board my plane bound for AZ for a mule deer hunt with my brother. We tried late season in January and didnt have any luck so we are doubling down on early season velvet. Fingers crossed... my bow is now in the hands of the very capable delta baggage handlers... :anguished:
How did it go? I was hoping to make it out there this season but didnt happen.

It was pretty brutal. Hiked over 65 miles looking for Muleys. It is supposed to be the monsoon season and all the creek beds were dry and it was mid 90s the whole week so a lot of the movement happened after dark. I finally drew back on a wide 2x3 the second to the last day and missed at 60yds. Not sure if it was the nerves or I miss ranged him. It was a great time though.

I'm curious where everyone is hunting out of state this year.

Me...

Atlanta suburbs with @huck72412
Michigan with a buncha dudes
Missouri with my brother and a buncha dudes
Montana with @Erniepower
Alabama with my Uncle
Washington DC with @putt4doe

My out-of-state hunting has taken a real back seat the last 10 years in the military. I've only been able to travel a few times. Now I'm making up for lost time.

Who's going on a cool trip? I want to hear about it and get jealous.

When are you going to be in mich.?

I’m military right now, and hunting out of state is whatever state I’m in. I’m doing archery in VA, however I fly back home to Missouri to rifle hunt with my uncle each year.

When do you plan to go to MO?
