Hunting season (archery) opened up here in the Sandhills last weekend and I was out with my bow. Didn’t see a hair but had trespassers to chase off right around sunset. But that is a different story….
Has anyone signed up at the above mentioned AI source for deer movement prediction, and if so, what is your opinion.
Good luck to all those who have an open season already..

I think its going to replace onx just from what I've seen and heard. It's going to have historical imaging on your phone which is awesome. The price is going to increase, so if your thinking of getting it go ahead. Other than that I have yet to put it to works until its released tomorrow. Its a new app, so there are going to be things that will take time to get right.

Did a search before posting, but apparently, did spell it as it's advertised, not separating the word.... but then, the op started in January, time to bring it up again... thanks for pointing it out.

Archery season just opened. Just signed up after watch the DIY sportsman youtube that explains it. The wind info has been spot on.

I just paid the yearly.

I basically said my thoughts on another thread but if I need AI to hunt a stupid friggin deer I'm out. I'll get out golfing more. Improved mapping, sure, fine. Movement predicting neural networks, that's pretty jacked up.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Good hunting!

As opposed to cell cams that tell you where they are “right now”?

I did the trial and canceled as what's currently on the website isn't worth paying for, but that said,, I'm waiting for the mobile app to come out and will give it another try. From listening to the podcasts the owner has done, it sounds interesting. I found it interesting that all the stuff he said was basically validating woodsmanship is the best way to kill deer even if you have the app. It's no replacement for boots on the ground and time on the stand. Still cool to see it will have a lot of info in one place that may help you figure out which location you might want to hunt on a particular day if you're torn between a couple/few.

Valid comparison but it's a different ethical conundrum. Cell cams certainly you can opt to use that real-time advantage, but you can also choose not to and just treat it as a picture on your phone you didn't have to wait 6 weeks to pull a card to see. In many cases it's not even practical. I get a big buck picture on my phone, sweet. What am I going to do? Cut out of work, skip daycare pickup, gather my stuff and drive 20 minutes home and 45 minutes to my spot, walk over to my camera and kill that deer that's still definitely not standing in front of my camera? Not likely.

An app with a stated goal to basically eliminate scouting from the equation? Not apples to apples. It's less of a fair chase issue, and more a question of just generally what do we think hunting in it's most elemental form should be all about and how we as humans do our best to destroy all that is good.

Now, do I think it's a pie-in-the-sky, absurd idea that will never work (and possibly even be counter-productive) at scale? Yes, I do. I think this idea is nuts. But his intentions were stated, and I stated that I didn't like his intentions. That's pretty much all.

Difference in opinion.

I’ve heard & read the stories of guys who’ve used cell cam photos to sneak in & either kill the deer at that spot, or ambush them in the general area- Simply because they “knew” they were there. It’s legal, that’s their business.

I’ve listened to several interviews with Bill Thompson & like was stated previously, he does emphasize scouting & woodsmanship, or confirming with “boots on the ground”. I believe some of the marketing done by others has driven the “no scout” idea.

30,000 foot view to me- it’s no different than any other E-scouting. It comes down to analyzing previous data & making a deduction. I know that’s a gross simplification, but that’s no different than heavily scouting/glassing an area, or the guys that have hunting an area so long that they have a very good idea of what the deer will do.

At first I lumped it in with The Drury’s Deercast as just another hunting gadget, but after hearing more of the data & science behind it, it’s alittle farther along.

Just another item that will be debated, like everything else in the hunting industry- Gun vs bow, flintlock vs smokeless, bow vs spear, yada yada yada…

The AI is a just a portion of what the app will do. More than 1 sat image for the areas I hunt to compare leaf on vs leaf off; a logbook tool; owner info; weather prediction and historical info; natural browse for each area plus much more to be added over time..... I encourage you to at least do the trial to check it out, and then decide if it help you.... But I've paid for it to keep the current price! Good luck!
