Outfitter Spartanforge, is anyone using it and what is your opinion?

Let me get this straight.

So… you can get a 14 day trial then pay $30 a month for a beta app you can’t download?

but still I can buy it but can’t download it…?

my understanding is whatever price you subscribe at now, during the Beta, will be your set price regardless of price increases on the future.

According to Bowhunter Chronicles podcast this week, the production version should be out in 10 or so days.

I signed up early with the PC version. My iphone version bugged out. I can't open or update.

I do believe Spartan Forge either dropped the ball, or did not clarify that the initial release was a beta.

For those that do podcasts, Bill Thompson was on Bowhunter Chronicles this week discussing the launch, issues that they had-some personal- & also what’s coming in the production version.

Sounds like the production version will give Onx & HuntStand a run for their money, especially with the ability to curate sat imagery for your local area, as well as expanding the AI side.

So the production version will have updated boundaries for private/public & some other features that will be useful. According to Bill, Andy May is the reason the beta had boundaries at all.

I can see myself switching to it full time, while I prefer HuntStand over Onx, HuntStand still has some quirks.

I got in early basically as a placeholder and to lock in the price. It was a promo price on top of the regular price (at the time) and my understanding is that it’ll stay at whatever price you got in at no matter what the promo was? I could be wrong about that. But. Either way I got in to lock myself in. If it doesn’t pan out for my liking then I’ll just cancel and only out a few bucks. But sounds to me like there’s a lot coming that will make it quite competitive with other apps.

To answer the question, I have not used it to scout or hunt yet and not sure I even will. I’m a weekend warrior 98% of the time too so I go hunt when I can no matter what. My main interest in it was since it is based off of all of these other data points, I wanted to watch the predictions to 1.) try to learn more about when good times are to actually hunt and 2.) compare to all the traditional logic of when it is good/not good to hunt.

I don’t see it replacing the other hunt apps I have (only 2 others at the moment), unless all the new features in the real version and any updates really blow the socks off the other apps. There are things about each app I like compared to another so I keep all 3 apps going for now. But I would like to distill it down to maybe 1-2 apps and call it good eventually.

I've had it since the beginning. I paid to keep the price low so when the app launched my price would be locked in.

Well the app finally is here and I've used it all season. It is marginal at best compared to basemap. The saved waypoints are hard to organize, hard to access, and don't give you all the information on the same screen compared to basemap. The compass is not even close to being as good as basemap, and the "prediction" of deer movement is laughable. It reminds me of the drury app failure.

I'm a little pissed about this because it appears now that the idea these guys had in the beginning had no development. They lied, and we paid them to literally build the app.

****ing swindled.

Hate to say it, but I'm agreeing with you.

I've been a beta user, very unimpressive so far, I'll give them time to catch up but def'y wonder what all the "experts" that jumped on the bandwagon were using to abandon the previous systems. Only time will tell imo, certainly glad I renewed my onx.

I've been impressed by basemaps, maybe because I had super low expectations from spartan.

I used the beta and took me some time to figure it out, but it helped me get my first 2 bow kills this past weekend. I waiting for the correct wind, and the travel pattern. I can see it helping.

I have four. OnX, Basemap, Spartan and Huntwise.

I started with OnX several seasons ago, then added basemap and the others. Spartan Forge has been middle of the road at best.

This season I decided to use the basemap exclusively. They use Google earth as their map source, which I like better than OnX. But OnX has features I like better than basemap.

As things stand, I will probably dump Huntwise and Spartan at the end of the season and keep Basemap and OnX. There's too many other places I can get the info that's on Huntwise and Spartan for free.

My 2 cents. Good hunting to all.

So it looks like OnX and Deer Cast have combined forces. I wonder if it was because of the hype that Spartan Forge was getting.
