I’m from NY and a pretty avid Muskie/Pike fisherman. I’m considering a 9 day adventure of Muskie chasing through Pennsylvania, West Virginia and finally Kentucky and back to NY.
Id prefer smaller rivers and lakes (300acres?) I’m running a 1448 big jon Lowe and 25hp jet drive. I’m not asking for honey holes, but maybe a hey, try this river or lake, and odds are decent if you know a thing or two. I’d also need a fairly decent launch. I use my Honda Civic to tow my boat, any solid concrete slab or metal grate should do. I’m thinking end of June/beginning of July.
Any info is greatly appreciated and if you’re local, maybe we can have a Pint or a Soda.

I don’t Musky fish but know some guys that do. I’d say Stonewall Jackson lake and New River for WV fishing

cave run has caught my eye more than once!
We was on cave run last July, we was sailing for a week but I asked several guys at Marina's about them and he said at that time of year they were only catching them in the river below because of water temps. It's a crystal clear lake, see 12-15ft down and rocky

Ok so in PA, you will need to first stop at Tionesta lake, then head to lake arthur, and on the way to WV stop at lake Somerset! Those are probably the best 3 muskie lakes. You could always hit the Allegheny river in many places along the way as well, there will be a ton of guys out there but they wont be fishing for muskie that's for sure!

I appreciate the feedback so far! :sunglasses:
Not sure of your route but Alum Creek resvoir, a little north of Columbus Ohio holds musky and I hear it's pretty good, though I haven't lived up there in 10 years. Never fished for them there but did catch a small one while bass fishing once

Depending on where you're at in NY you can be in Michigan in 4hrs~, or even fish Canadian side (Ontario), and fishing Lake St. Clair or the St. Clair River. Both are very good for muskie but you'll do better at the delta where SCR dumps into LSC.

I would focus on the flowing water in PA if its fishable. Allegheny and Susquehanna especially with your rig. Hundreds of miles of good esox water. Most of the smaller lakes in PA are electric motor only and PFBC lakes are 20 hp limit. There are some lakes for numbers, but size the rivers win out generally speaking.

The Allegheny river where clarion river go into it . I herd it a spot

Awesome! Thanks again guys. I’m actually considering sticking more north now possible. A lot of people have said by June and July they are already into 80 degreee water temps which can be tough on Muskie and lead to mortality.

Are to
Poca River, 18 mile creek, 13 mile, 10 mile creek. All run into the Kanawha River and within 30 minutes Drive of all from one spot. Campgrounds nearby also. Located about 45 minutes from charleston WV.

Are you from WV? What are water temps like around end of June/beginning of July? I’m hearing pretty high by then...
