Hey all—just got my new c1 sticks. Took almost double the advertised wait, but theyre here. All good sa far. I dont really care about the color per se, but they are fairly glossy. Are folks painting these? Just rattlecan flat automotive primer? Pretty sure I have olive, grey and black etching primer on hand already that Ive used on metal stuff, just not sure about the carbon layup. Thoughts?

It should be fine. Crew shells, specialty car parts...all painted carbon fiber. Most gel coats take paint without trouble.

Catalyst Outdoors was going to cerekote their carbon sticks.

You could always ask Timber Ninja if uncertain.

Pretty cool sticks, enjoy.

Stealth strips!

That would work, but one aspect of the C2 sticks is there isn't much opportunity for metal to metal noise.

They joke, sorta, that you can rattle with them....sounds ok actually.

Its one stick that I wouldn't bother to stealth strip.

I just feel I’d prefer that over spray paint, but it’s your stick!

FWIW, the guy at timberninja got back to me and said the etching auto primer is fine to use on the carbon sticks, but that they dont recommend stealth strips. Cant imagine why except perhaps weight? (GUESSING HERE but "each strip is 1.5oz and at 1lb per stick that's significant and we put so much effort into being light why add ounces..."??). Anyway, hope it helps someone and thanks for the replies.

I spoke to Jason last season about Stealth Strip when I had the Gen 1 steps, it was a must to Stealth Strip them otherwise the step would rock from side to side. He sent me the Gen 2 steps with tighter tolerances and they wouldn't fit on the sticks with Stealth Strip applied. I had to completely remove it. When I got the new steps I just used camo Vet Wrap on them.
