Peep Sight Help

Mine should be fine by using the D Loop to compensate, but I may mess with it at some point. Thanks for the video.

I’ll have to try and change the orientation. As far as serving, I just tied it in above and below. I’ll have to check out YouTube if there is a specific way to do this style of peep. It came with no directions on that when I got it, so I assumed it was just a basic deal.

In my experience, the most important tie in is the one that goes around the peep housing. I only do this tie in, and do not serve above and below anymore. I haven't had a peep move in 10 years while hunting hard. Definitely serve above and below if you want, but consider a clove hitch or constrictor around the peep. I do the clove hitch with double overhands on each side to finish. The only downside is time and it the knot is so tight that it is hard to remove the peep later (razor blade to dig into the peep groove).

Here's a video from one of the older peep makers showing this. I don't think they show it, but waxing the thread before tying helps.

One more tip, when melting your serving around the string, try using a toothpick you've lit on fire (smaller and cooler flame you can control more easily cause it's on a stick!). I go one more step and also wrap a little bit of aluminum foil around my string where the melted serving might touch while cooling.

Also, when I tighten each of 3 stages of that knot in the video (clove hitch, both bottom half hitches, both top half hitches) by wrapping each end of the serving around a rod and pulling so hard that I almost break the serving. It locks down like no other and does not damage the string.
