I’m working on some cheap diy platforms to leave up for presets.

I made this out of 4” pvc and spray adhesive’d wet sandpaper on it for grip.
I know some people have done similar things and complained about them rolling, but the notch eliminates that.

my only complaint is side to side wobble when shifting weight, still trying to figure it out.

All things considered, it’s like $5 for a foot long chunk of pvc and strap, not bad.

I’ve also have a picture of someone’s set up from the Michigan saddle Hunter group (don’t remember who posted it to give credit unfortunately).

I believe it’s wire reinforced suction hose.
Rigid enough to stand on, but flexible enough to hug the tree.
It seems like a great option, the only downside is that suction hose is expensive and hard to source.

I have made almost a dozen of these from various scraps and from old ladder stands for presets...currently trying to convert one in to a climber...and getting close to getting to down

My latest one. It's made of steel, but only comes in just a touch over 4.5lbs. It bites the tree really nice and I have zero issues with it kicking out.

Thats awesome. Does it have teeth on the back of the platform to bite the tree? Its hard to tell from the picture.

Bites the tree great...I dont see a strap holding it on the tree!!

The pivot tabs are threaded and the platform got some thru holes? What size bolts?

3 , 1/4-20 per . Ive welded and tapped a couple that i made for buddy's . But for my personal one I trust the threads alone . I Like being able to switch out the platform when I come up with a new idea .

I've made a few of these out of steel and tend to be a bit proud if my builds.

I love these sets with an OCB buckle.
