All these people who are so proud to be too cool to care and tougher than the virus or whatever...

just watch the news. As another poster just said people are dying alone. HEALTHY people, mothers fathers brothers sisters ... AMERICANS are dying by the thousands and people are too cool to care.

it blows my mind, but at the same time it totally is expected.

I'd like to thank you guys for keeping this discussion civil so mods don't need to step in and do mod stuff. :)
Thanks for leaving it open. On a more serious note, all the public land in our area is now closed to the public. Turkey and deer sanctuary are what they are for now. No people. I walked there last week and the only person saw was my wife.
Just finished pumping out manure at 2 am so I thought I would check saddlehunter before sleep. I thought I retired last week.

I’m also glad this has remained civil. I don’t think we know enough about the virus to chastise anyone for their actions.

Personally, I don’t really have a choice. I’m on call 24/7 for brain and spine trauma surgery. I have been in an operating room more hours than I’ve been at home this week.

I see people wearing masks but they aren’t sealed, so I’m not sure they are helping.

As far as N95 masks, there are about 4 pages of contraindications of who should NOT wear an N95. They are hard to breathe in even if you are totally healthy. There is an extensive fitting process for an N95 and then it only applies to the exact brand and model for which you were tested and fitted.

BTW, Trump was right about people hoarding/stealing masks. I know several employees at one hospital who have seen it first hand in the last two weeks. In one case, a construction worker doing a project on the surgical floor came in to the alcove where we get our PPE and was filling up a garbage bag with masks. Now, those of us who are actually in surgery are only allowed one mask/day (some exceptions) and we have to go through a gatekeeper and sign them out. I sneezed in mine yesterday and was too busy to walk all the way to the gatekeeper, so I had to deal with it for about another hour. Normally, it would have taken me 30 seconds to step out of the room and change masks.

As far as just getting the virus and dealing with it, good luck. I have already seen otherwise young healthy people in ICU for over a week. Alone. Not my idea of fun. Those who recover are going to face the possibility of lifelong lung damage. I’ve seen reports of stroke and neurological defects after recovering.

Bottom line, I wish I could stay home and buy time for the scientists to find a vaccine or treatment. I don’t have that option. If you do, please strongly consider it.

Bottom line here is the careless attitude of most political leaders in North America and Europe have left their citizens woefully unprepared and unprotected. Our governor here in NY chose to squander billions of $ on useless pet projects instead of stockpiling supplies and equipment for the dire situation we now face in our state. I once heard a wise man say, “Mankind learns his lessons the hard way and forgets them easily! Stay safe and healthy my brothers!

Not that I disagree with what's been said but please no politics on saddlehunter.com.

My wife is an RN and has been working with Coronavirus patients. I’ve been thinking it’s probably better for her to be on a floor with confirmed cases and taking every precaution rather than not knowing if someone may have it. At least that’s what I’m telling myself. Kind of scary.

I hope and pray she does not get it and if she does it will be mild.
My son has to worry about running out of protective equipment like masks as an emergency doctor. Leave the masks for front line workers.
The rest of us just self isolate.

On a light note. I always liked MASH A fun reminder that the ways to prevent disease are not new.

New multipurpose Cornovirus head gear. Seriously these may work but look ridiculous except when hunting. Face masks are common in Taiwan and South Korea where they have successfully combated Cornovirus

Saddlehunter effect, scent lok sells out next week after its head covering gets favourable reviews for cornovirus prevention on the Beast site and Jon Eberhart and Dan Infalt finally become friends after Jon gives Dan some extra face masks he has around home

FYI.

It is hard to know the truth but for sure you cannot trust the CCP. So much fake news everywhere. Yes I expect the virus may have come from that lab. For sure the head of the WHO is a fool or worse. Some things you know, some you suspect are true and some are lies. I suspect that news story might be true. For sure parts of it are fact.

Florida Congressman admits it is the truth.

Many people here have an ozone generator which oxidizes many compounds. An hour in a closed room or large cardboard box with an ozone generator should disinfect these groceries without spraying disinfectant on them.

Yeah I upgraded to an $80 commercial unit about 6 weeks ago. I bet this thing would bake the hunting clothes in about 15 seconds. Any inbound packages mail and groceries go in a box in the garage with the door open, gas 15-30 minutes before coming in the house.

Canada sent the wuhan lab $1 million in funding in February.
Crazy world.
