I’ve spent hours and hours scouring the diy section of this forum but haven’t noticed any diy saddles with pleats. I’ve done a phantom clone and a kestrel clone recently. I’d be interested in attempting a pleated saddle. Has anybody done this yet that would be willing to offer some tips? Thanks.

I did a flex Phantom-ish build and a Kestrel Flex build. Heres the Flex-Phantom. What kinda info are you looking for?

Flex Football DIY...meh...

So, I decided to try the whole "flex" concept with the football shaped saddle. Turned out good, but I have to say, I dont think anything is gained over the original design. When flexed, it does change the dynamics of the adjustable bridge loops as well. I think its the angle the bottom webbing...

One thing I would suggest is think about pleat material management. Not all material is the same and stiffer material makes for a better pleat, or find another way to manage the material. I added a zipper.
