Poison ivy

He’s a bammer? I thought he was a Boomer (sooner). Yeah, Bama’s out.

I know some surveyors that swear by some kinda barrier cream, y’all immunodeficient folks might wanna look into that.

Apparently it’s prevalent for bottle fed folks to be affected. Doesn’t bother us normal folks that were raised on the teat.
Hate speech.

One of my surveyors was known to get it bad, so one day when we pulled up to check out a job together and saw it all over the fence along the property I told him to stay in the truck. He sat there with the window rolled down about 20’ away and downwind of the stuff. The next morning he came to work with blisters all over his face. Literally got it without touching it.

Stay away if not sure you are affected by it. Me, I never got until my late forties or early fifties, I worked in it climbed through it as an arborist. When I did get it later in life it was only a slight rash. I did work with someone that ended up looking like a Raspberry. To the best of my knowledge Poison Ivy can be ground cover small shrub and or a vine 50 ft up or more. Cut the base this season and save that tree for next year. Be very careful with equipment as to not transfer the sap to your skin. Clean saw or lopper with alcohol. Poison oak is a ground plant or small shrub, I have never run across it in vine form. Then again, I am a Northeast guy NY PA maybe Ohio once in a while.

Stay safe up there.

That would suck.

Did you change his work email to theleper@...

Just be careful. I believe a person's sensitivity to it can change over time for whatever reason. Just because you can use it instead of Charmin this year does not necessarily mean it will be OK next year. That would be a hard lesson to learn.

I hope not because that means I will prolly start getting chiggers then too and that would suck.

Oh, man! If you are immune to those things too you are leading a charmed life.
If I can ever figure out how to get the skeeters and ticks to leave me alone without spray or a thermacell, I will have it licked. Wish I had an explanation for why the ivy's and chiggers dont bother me, they just dont. Think I just developed an immunity to chiggers due to the shear amount of them I got as a kid. I would be afraid to know how many times growing up I had more than 500 bites at a time from chiggers.

Yuck! I wouldn’t know a chigger if I saw one. Don’t have em here. That I know of.

You don't see them, that's part of the problem. They are a type of arachnid and the young ones bite and leave itchy red whelps on you. The adults are bright red and you can sometimes see them on tree bark. They congregate anywhere where clothing is tight, like waist lines, socks, you name it. The bites show up hours after they have bitten you. The bites last a week to ten days and itch mercilessly.

Yep like a skeeter bite that last for a week.
