I'll let you know in December.

Weather is much wetter this year which means more food and hopefully healthier and more predictable deer. Wetter also means mosquitoes so I doubt I'll do much scouting until opener gets close.

Lessons learned from last year showed me that I need to get closer to the deer. Mosquitoes means less time scouting out the best trees and means I'll be going in blind and climbing what I can.

More confident in going in blind and 2TC'ing wherever I end up. Equally confident that whatever tree I 2TC will be near the "perfect" tree for an SRT preset.

Like a riverboat gambling degenerate, don’t all hunters believe the next sit/hunt/season will be the best one????

Yes because I swallowed my pride and chose to step away from chasing big bucks in the big woods where I grew up and dedicated all of my post season scouting to staying around my house which is a good 60/40 timber/ag split. Also chose to set up in some other spots near by my house that are strongly divided by terrain features and are proven to hold good deer but most guys won’t even look at it because there’s no cell reception and they don’t understand how to enjoy the great outdoors also been seeing deer like crazy around here lately and it really has me getting overly excited!!!!!

I had that happen a couple seasons ago too. We lost a ton of summer sausage, a lot of pork, and some flounder as well. Thankfully all the back strap had already been cooked. Hopefully those electrical issues don’t mess up your season this year
Neighbors 9yo daughter unplugged his to plug in a hair dryer for a craft. Lost everything and it was so bad he had to hire guys in bio suits to remove the entire fridge.

I removed my own but it was awful. Then we had to bleach the freezer multiple times to get the odor out.

Ugh! I remember as a kid our big chest style deep freeze went out and it was probably a week before anyone noticed it. My dad taped it shut, put ratchet straps around it and used a come along to drag it out of the garage onto a trailer. I think it got buried as is in some landfill. Some archeologist may get a treat 2000 years from now.

I’m pretty sure wars have been started over less

I pictured you a mini Drey kinda guy
I was saying I got the Summit Goliath to be sarcastic.
Now, I have a pretty awesome saddle from a small high quality shop in Florida. I did try the Drey last year for several all day sits and it was nice for me in those scenarios. Again, I’m 6’5, 240, so sitting in it for that long and transitioning to leaning on my Cruzr seeker made the time easy. I don’t think I could do that long in any other brands saddle. I woukd try the Dryad mini and/ or the new design Drey also which appears to be a lot more streamlined. I like trying all sorts of stuff just because that’s how my brain works. Just like I want to try the new Latitude platform.

This years advancements allow a saddle hunter to run the following:

Drey mini, Latitude platform and Tetherd sticks and a hunter can have everything and be easily under the 10 or 9lb mark including ropes and beeners. That’s pretty amazing fkr the quick morning or evening hunts.

I remember you mentioning the Drey which is why I said that. I figured the Goliath was sarcasm lol
And yes the ability to be up the tree for less than 10 lbs is amazing.

I said no.

I hunted the least amount ever last season and still managed to kill my first Wi public land buck as well as my best buck to date. I also shot a doe on my first hunt of the season. To top it off my oldest son killed his first deer (first deer taken at our new house as well) the last minute of the youth hunt in an unfinished tower stand I worked my ass off to make usable.

That was a season I’ll never forget.

I did this once too. I had moved in with a girlfriend (now wife) while still renting a house to keep my stuff in . We bought a house and I started cleaning up the rental and moved the freezer to clean behind it. Forgot to plug it back in. It was over a week in August before I realized my error. I plugged it back in and refroze everything to clean it out but it was still gross. My biggest regret was the 10lb walleye I had in there waiting to go to the taxidermist. . . .

Oh probably the same. Ill fill my tags in the county. Just not sure if ill county hop to add extra does to the freezer or not. I dont get hung up on buck size too much.

Heck of a season.

I'm going say that I will be more successful this year. I only say that because I am starting to have a better understanding " or so I think" of how I should be approaching things in the preseason, during season and post season. Now does that mean that I can say without doubt that I will harvest a Deer this year? That would be a no! Success for me will be paying attention to what I have hoped to have learned from my past seasons and focus on areas that I already know hold Deer. I don't bow hunt yet, so our early season and opening of the season is bow and primitive weapons. I figure this will give me a chance to do some observation sits without a weapon and force me to just watch and listen and learn. Going out now and just walking property that I intend to hunt this year and get a better lay of the land so to speak. So I can actually learn the hows and whys is going to be my biggest tool set. If I can put myself in a position to actually see more Deer, then to me that will be my success.
