Biotech - I voted superbug.
I ruled out any natural disasters because I think we will destroy ourselves before they could (and will) happen.

Warfare is becoming more and more subtle to the naked eye so of the man made options I chose superbug.

I chose AI, once its developed it will continue to grow at such an exponential rate that control would be extremely difficult. Humans are arrogant and if we build something more capable than us, it could easily decide that this parasite called humanity is unnecessary.

That and because the Terminator

I agree 100% modern chemical warfare will utilize some virus or bacteria. Covid is a great example of how quickly such an event can spread. Make a mutated super virus. “Accidentally” let it out and just like that a vast majority of the Earth’s population will be eradicated within months. The scary thing is some of these viruses can adapt or mutate to become resistant to medicines and vaccines

Internet Broke.
I was jut having this discussion with someone last evening. Imagine the calamity that would befall our society if the world wide web suddenly went away. No utilities, no food distribution, no gasoline, no manufacturing . . . . the list goes on and on. We'd be suddnely thrust back into the mid 1800's leaving most without the skills necessary to survive.

Not just the skills. But without industrialization of things needed for survival (food and shelter and clothing) there's not enough resources to go around for 7 billion people. I think the first wave of chaos would knock about about 20-40% of the population in about 5-10 years. People have no concept of how much of food production is a result of the infrastructure we've developed. It's not just the amount of food capable of being produced. It's that the mechanism to produce and then distribute goes away without web and power. You're right.

People have been lulled into a false sense of security. The veneer of civilization is thin.

It won't ever be nuclear, unless you drop it on Yellowstone and triggers the super volcano or biological warfare. Those that believe in the former vastly underestimates nature.

It's going to take something that basically makes it impossible for people to get food and water like a super volcano eruption or large asteroid.

Perfect! I'd thrive for sure. Hillbillies unite!

On a serious note, I voted virus. The world is playing a dangerous game right now and all it takes is one slip with anything nuclear or a manufactured virus. My fear is WWIII and nasty Bio-warfare.
