Post season workout encouragement thread! 2022 EDITION!!!!!

what do you mean by this? Handle? Cage? Its stored on a hangar made for the concept2.

Sorry, maybe that wasn't the clearest.

The handle you pull, you have it in the handle hook. Concept II says this is ok, but it's widely advised to let the slack out of the chain so the handle rests against the chain guide in front of the flywheel cage.

Ohhh ok yeah I never made a point to do or not to it’s just however it ends up when I store it lol.

I haven’t worked out in years. I’m running around on my feet at work so I have been getting my steps in, but that’s about it. I’ve always been overweight, or rode the lost weight gained back roller coaster. I got down to 200# from about 220 over the last year and Just lost another 10# over the last month or so. My diet is intermittent fasting…..meaning I basically eat once a day, usually right before bed. I pig out when I eat and often times it’s junk food.
However, Losing weight doesn’t mean getting in shape. I have felt so week, I finally started doing push-ups each morning. 2 weeks ago, I struggled to to 5 push-ups. This am I did 20. Been riding the bike a little too. …..I’m trying to get stronger but I need to quit smoking too. I’m having way to much fun to die this young!
Baby steps man, obviously stopping smoking is a massive mountain to climb and would do wonders for your overall health. Just doing the things you mentioned is a great first step. You can do it! Hardest step is the first one.

I haven’t done an update in a while. So I’m still going strong, I’m on week 11 of my 25 week, 3 phase made up plan that I pulled out of my a$$, that ends with me running a half marathon(In Charlevoix MI). I basically mashed together the calendars for the Insanity DVD’s, the Insanity Asylum DVD’s, and a pirated version of P90X I found online. Phase 1 was regular insanity, 2 is Asylum/P90x hybrid, and phase 3 is this 12 week running/Asylum/Insanity/P90X schedule thing that I Literally found on google. I’ll probably keep going even after my half marathon, I’d like to just find more workouts and add them to my routine. I’ll try to workout consistently for a full year and hopefully be a poor man’s Cam Hanes lol.

For those who are interested in trying this(Please be careful and consult Doctors before starting)

Dude! You can absolutely quit smoking. I smoked 2 packs a day for 22 years and I quit 20 years ago. I'm not gonna tell you it was easy because it wasn't but it can be done. Talk to your doctor. Whenever I tried to quit I didn't have a problem not smoking because I'm a stubborn sob but I did want to kill everyone and everything around me I got so damn irritated. I talked to my doctor and got prescribed a anti depressant and it took the edge off so that after 2 months I was able to go it alone without medication. Instead of substituting food for the smokes and gaining a bunch of weight I chewed gum for quite a while and sort of got addicted to that but that was easy to quit. Here I am 20 years later smoke free and I I have 3 beautiful grand daughters and I am so happy that I am around to see them growing up. Please don't be like my brother who couldn't quit until he got bladder cancer and they took his bladder out or my mother in law who smoked for 40 years and died at the ripe old age of 58 from lung disease with a cigarette in her hand. Good luck and please take action today. You"ll be glad you did.

I also stopped smoking over 10 years ago and had been smoking 20 years or so. I was doing an elimination diet where you cut out a lot of inflammatory foods for six weeks and then re-introduce them one group after another to see if you react to one. Since that changed up my food routine so much I figured I would stop smoking as well and it was a breeze because of the other changes. It was easy to throw one more change in the mix. I have never looked back or been tempted to pick up another smoke. I had tried quitting before but it was always half azzed.

So, I've been gaining about a pound per week. Is that going to cause stretch marks? Random, but whatever...

Not sure how much weight it takes but I got them on my shoulders in 2005. Reading this post reminded me they were there. They aren’t as obvious as they were back then and even I don’t really notice them.
I went from 170ish to 200ish

How's everyone doing so far this year? I've been consistent Monday Wednesday Friday since around November. Have been making decent linear progress without too much stalling. I skipped last nights workout but am doing it tonight instead. Nice weather has me considering adding a little cardio on the weekends with the kids.

Doing ok over here as well, new garden project has kept me very active. Got a vasectomy a week ago so haven't been too active since but ready to get back at it.

Im feeling much better ;) so went for a hike today and finally hung some cell cameras I bought a while ago. Got my first picture of a few does within hours, come on September...

Been going on a few walks a week and it’s finally warmed up enough to start paddling again.

Does dropping, bucking, stacking and cleaning up two 60’ aspen
trees count as a workout?

Sure feels like I went through a heavy workout! :astonished:

One more big tree to go. Happiness is a new chin on the chainsaw! Like a hot knife through better.

Anyone have a good sandbag workout. My current routine is made up of:
Pushups
Squats (10 each side)
Burpees
Rows
Overhead press

i do all five without stopping, 10 reps each for five total sets. I try to keep my rest time to 1-2 minutes…..it gets a nasty sweat going and great for the legs.

Are you doing those with the sandbag other than the pushups? If not you can do all of those with the sandbag. Some of the stuff the wife and I do with the sandbag includes Burpee/cleans, squats, split squats, front rear and lateral lunges, curls, snatch, OH press, farmer carry, rows. Throw in some ab work, running and jump rope and you can knockout some good workouts at home with tons of variation.
