Post season workout encouragement thread! 2022 EDITION!!!!!

I haven’t in the last 6 years unfortunately. Three weeks ago a friend got promoted to his second degree on his black belt and I took a little road trip to go to the class. That’s about the extent of my mat time. Small world - I checked your school website and the guys I started training with at Marshall University were under Jorge Gurgel and Josh Souder was at his school in Cincinatti at the time.
That’s cool! Second degree black belt is big time! Yea, Josh is a really good guy and does a really good job.

If you wanna gauge what kinda shape you’re in go move your preset stick and hang on stand. Found out real quick I have more work to do.
yeah i hung a few cameras a few weeks ago and it was my first time up a tree in a while, nothing like some sweat in the eyes and sticker bushes in the legs to get ya motivated (said no nonhunter ever)

Walking 3x a week 1.5 to 2 miles with full backpack load except for sticks. Includes saddle and platform in my pack.

6/14 UPDATE: added my Skeletors to the pack today.

I started back one day a week on sept 13th and now I’m up to a very consistent 3 days a week. You can do it!

Getting back on the horse. Started eating keto and really trying to develop a workout routine habit. I don’t have trouble working out, it’s just depending on the week when I get to exercise can be different days or times of day so it feels irregular trying accomplish different types of workouts or goals, and then recovery can be weird when my days are out of pattern. But I’m telling myself to keep at it and the plan can be flexible as long as I’m doing it.

Late to the game, but I'm working on the C25K program and the wife and I have switched to "grocery store vegan" (no meat or animal products except for what I personally obtain). No coffee, alcohol, or sugar either.

I've gone from 220ish to 208 as of this morning. Feeling good. Hoping to get down to 170-180 by the time deer season roles around and maybe stay there for at least the next 10 years.

Last year was a rough season for me. I did everything I usually do physically but felt it for the first time in years. Me and a buddy did 2 duck trips to Mississippi and after having to drag decoys and gear through a muddy, flooded field for a mile in a pair of waders, I was gassed. Drug a buck out a mile and a half or so in order to get some pics in the boat on a pretty morning and was also whooped. And I had a lot of hard days in some hill country I found. Just felt worn out more than I should have, and I'm way too young for it.

Feels good to be getting my sh!t back in order mentally and physically.

My girlfriend has now taken to the gym as well. She's a certified yoga instructor, but never spent much time in the gym. She's really enjoying it. One more thing we are able to do together.

Played summer league lax on Monday night. Crazy how out of shape these youngins are today. 46 and still running by them.

Yesterday was running hill repeats. The hill is right at 400 meters from bottom to top with 100' of elevation gain. Run up(more of a slow jog) and walk back down. Did 5 reps with a 20# vest.

Been at it for 3 months. Down 26lbs(214lbs) as of this morning. Im thinking my goal is 200lbs by bow opener(sept 17th). Been working on building muscle but at the same time losing fat by strength training and eating plenty of protein.

Good for you!

I just knocked out week 5. Haven't lost any more weight but my pants fit looser and my wife says I look thinner. I turn 30 next year. Think I'm going to try and build up to a marathon for my birthday. Also toying with starting the Navy SEAL 26 week program to see if I could pass their physical at 30

Finished 6 rounds of Jiu Jitsu. Try to hit it 4 times a week.

I need to get back into BJJ. Good way to stay in shape and learn a valuable skill at the same time. I think I have two stripes on my white belt. So nothing too crazy.

I'm behind on my exercise regime. Think i'm going to dust off the kettlebell and get bike out when I can. I also would like to take my kayak out fishing and potentially scout some public land with it.

noce work everyone, thanks for bumping the thread. i'm a bit out of commision at the moment (covid day 3 for me, not been fun) but prior to that i'd been doing a decent amount of kayaking this summer, though lately most of my "cross training" has been physical labor, thanks to all the storm damage we had here recently.
