Post season workout encouragement thread! 2022 EDITION!!!!!

Well for many of us this is the end of the post/pre season and the SEASON is here. 10/1 for me.

As a closure for my progress on this thread, I didn't get around to running a half marathon. However, I have been able to do 10 miles straight as well as run in a publicly timed 5k and got 21:54, which I'm proud of considering one of my old goals was doing a 5k under 30:00. I know my training will slow down now that I'll be hunting. But I'll be excited to see the 2023 thread pop up in a couple of months.

Where did you guys end up? did you meet or exceed your goal? Do you need to regroup and try again in 23?

I never saw a 2023 thread pop up. But if any of you are interested I made a Strava Club for Saddle Hunters. check it out and help each other stay motivated

2023 is going well for me. I’m signed up for a local 6 mile obstacle course race through the city on the 28th. I dropped my weekly lifting back to 2x a week in January because I was playing hockey on Monday and Saturday nights. That ended in March but I just stayed at twice a week. The past few weeks I’ve added in two nights of some sort of cardio. Running is tough when you wait until you put the kids to bed.

Earlier this year I entered a local highlands games competition and finished in second. I also did a local 3D shoot that was an IBO qualifier so by the end of next week I’ll have done the cam hanes lift run shoot thing.

Good bump! I slacked on starting this again. I’m currently training for another half marathon. I’m nursing a pretty nasty ankle sprain that’s keeping my mileage down but I’m going to try it anyways in June.

Finished the 10k obstacle course in under 2 hours. Ran the whole thing except through some of the obstacles. Old city hospital, newspaper factory and newspaper distribution center were pretty tight quarters to run in so I just walked and got the unguided tour.
I don’t know that I’d run a 10k race just to run it but I’ll do that event again next year. IMG_1747.jpeg

Not my best time and not my worst but I finished the Charlevoix half marathon (13.1) in 2:16:57. Pretty proud of that considering I got an ankle sprain in week 3 of my 12 week running schedule. Ankle is back to 100% and just didn’t have the training long runs to conquer the inevitable slow down by the halfway point. My best was 2:03 last year. Lansing/East Lansing half marathon is in late September so that will probably be my last one before bow season hits on Oct.1. Also my wife has baby #2 on the way in Mid August so that’ll be interesting for that race. Guess we’ll see what happens! Hope everyone has had a great spring/summer.
